I can't separate posters from their avatars. I think it is the avatar talking, and I treat them as such.
I also really hate it when people change avatars.

i changed mine for kuffie-chan cus my old one gave him an upset tummy.
iv been using it like 3 weeks now?

I have that habit, too. I just associate certain people with certain characters after a while and cannot separate them ever, even if I know what the person looks like IRL.
I have only used Kallen avatars because she's mai waifu and quite a bit similar to me. Too many people associate her with me now that I just can't ever get rid of her, not that I would want to anyways.

In my eyes Onee-Sama looks like Kallen and nothing will ever change that (probably)
I've had my avatar for a long time and I first started using it after seeing it in the maria holic manga. I use it because it actually looks like me even though I'm not a female.

(this was before my Waifu) ...
I chosen my avatar because I (LOVE) the character Rukia... been a fan of hers since the very beginning of Bleach.
I like the expression on it and just the over all look of it.
I tried several different Rukia's ~ but ~ none were good enough... until this one.
More than likely, it will not change, just the direction of its appearance.
Finally ~
(Deth) + Soul Reaper + Shinigami (死神, "death kami") = goes well together.

Fatal Frame remains the scariest (and hence best) horror game I've played. Also, the picture of Rei taking pictures of loli shrine maidens seems to suit the themes of this site.

I went for Golden Darkness because a) she's mai waifu. 2) she's a kickass loli. 3) she doesn't need to be loli, as manga chapter 100 (and the OVA) shows.

Including myself (there was an insect-avatar swarm on another forums that I joined, and for like, a week I couldn't tell they were my own posts).
I'd recently seen Kara no Kyoukai and noticed I held a strange similarity to certain side of Shiki. But more importantly than that, I had decided I needed a Gravatar at about the same time I was going through older articles and found the full picture of the one I use.
I've briefly considered switching to a Mizore avi, but I realized I wouldn't be able to find my posts.

I also dislike it when people change their avatars, though it's okay if it's the same character, becuase then you'll just identify them by that character instead. Like NeonShadows, I see that character as their face, to some extent. It's like a first impression.
I picked this avatar because I needed a gravatar. So I decided to pick Ilya because Ilya is often light-hearted but is serious too. I picked this particular image because it's friendly and has glasses.
