  2. mmm I'm trying to think if I've tried that one^. I know I've tried vanilla beer, and it was pretty good. I can't find many vanilla beers online so it must've been that one lol

There aren't many true vanilla beers. Closest you'll get to something like that is usually a milk stout, but not everyone makes those.

They don't distribute this particular beer in my state, so I stock up every time I cross the state line.

  4. As much as I like a Porter from time to time, but has none of you a tip for me for Lager/Pilsner?

I find most of them are as good as any other. It's only when you get above about 6% ABV in more specific styles that you start noticing more unique tastes in any type of beer.

Czech have some great lager beer, one of the best is Staropramen.

And the classic Pilsner Urquell is also great.

btw I only drink beer, no wine, no other liquer and I drink beer for the taste, not for the alcohol.

Yuengling is good. Not sure if you can get it in Germany.

There are probably 100 brews of the same style better than that here in the US alone. If you can get it in Germany, it's probably far from the best brew available.

Their Black & Tan is decent though.

  12. I had my first beer when I graduated highschool [16]. I had adult supervision.

I don't drink a lot for the sake of being the only one who's sober and haven't really measured how much I can handle because of it, at least my friends walk home okay.

I like San Miguel. Back when we still have MH adhoc sessions, we'd get just one bottle each of SanMig Light. Makes our hunts flawless :D

How's the liquor tax in your countries anyway?

  15. I can't wait to drink some beer in Japan. It tastes way better than the ones we end up with here (locally brewed Asahi and Sapporo).

  17. I can't really think of a brand at the moment, so I will go by types.

Generally, I prefer Ales over Lager however I do enjoy certain stouts, as well as the darker Lagers. If we are talking about Lager, than Marzen style beer is probably my favorite within the field of Lagers.

I really enjoy Hefeweizen and almost any other style of wheat beer as they are refreshing and easy to drink, whilst still actually having character to them unlike yellow water "Pilsners".

When it comes to Ales, I generally prefer Brown Ales over Pale Ales and IPAs. English Brown Ales and especially Dubbels/Abbey Ales are particular favorites of mine. I am not much a fan of Pale Ales as they are too hoppy/bitter for me, and I don't really get the craze for Pale Ales and IPAs in the American Micro Brew scene because of that.

As for some of my favorite brands just off the top of my head, probably Spaten is the only German one I can remember because it's short, other German beers I can really only remember by image. I like their Optimator, Oktoberfest and Weissbier. I do also enjoy Newcastle and the like. Though more often than not, I find myself drinking beer that was made within or close to the Tri-State. Things like Ommegang, Brooklyn Beer or Six Points. The only "Big Name" American beers I drink are Blue Moon, Yuengling and Samuel Adams. It also depends on if and where I'm eating out. If I'm in Chinatown I'll have Tsingtao, and if I'm in the East Village having Yakitori, Ramen or some other form of homey Japanese fare I'll have Ebisu (it's the only Japanese beer I do actually enjoy, with Kirin being just okay and Sapporo and Asahi being pretty poor to me. I'm willing to deal with Tsingtao as I generally don't have much choice in the matter). I'll have Negra Modelo and Sol (with Lime, of course) in the places appropriate as well.

The only time I'll have Bud or Heineken or the like is if I'm at someone else's house and nothing else is available. If so then I will drink them if they are ice cold otherwise it's water for me.

In general beer is my preferred form alcohol as I love the variety it offers and the taste/mouthfeel of it. When it comes to wines I generally drink fruity whites mostly like Vinho Verde or Riesling. I'm even more limited when it comes to spirits, as I really only like Rum, and preferably Dark or Spiced Rum.

  18. Hmm, I enjoy a good seasonal beer during the winter time, usually one with strawberry accents.

Do you know of a really good fruit-flavored beer? Generally the only "Seasonal Flavors" beer I have are Pumpkin-flavored ones as they remind me of one of my favorite deserts of Pumpkin pie.

I have tried various fruity beers and I never really enjoy them. Any suggestions?

  20. For those of you in New York state (or the NE US), there's a store for you: Beers of the World.

    1500 brands of beer.

Here's their page on beer styles.
