I have to agree with this....

More than likely (as is common) amongst young people now-a-days (including the past), is that they hate/despise anything of - 'authority' - and anything that is considered - 'oppressive'.

That impression will (always) come off whenever a bus check/inspection (or) when one is pulled over/questioned, depending on the situation, takes place by any officer either associated by Security/Local/State/Federal/Military.

I'm not going to precede further with this (other than) say (again) that - 'not all officers' - are evil tools, because I personally, know too many of them, and know for a fact they're not like that.

It's too bad though, that the small, bad minority is what colors the public's perception of the large, good majority.

  5. I have never had a good experience with a policeman (aside from when they ocassionally sent one to talk in Health class or whatever). Every cadet I've come into contact with at the New York City Police Academy three blocks from my school has been an asshole, and I've even seen some of them break the law before. There are FAR more bad cops than good ones, and this is with me WANTING to trust authority.

The one and only time i got pulled over they were quite nice and let me on my way once they realized i was A a new driver and B didn't realize my headlights were off. Also they thought i was drunk due to no headlights LOL.

But i also don't trust authority figures and the like. To easy to abuse power.

I have to agree with this...

I will not deny that (bad cops) are not around, I know they are, as well as bad doctors, security, firemen, etc, etc... they will be around, but no one - 'knows' - who they are..

One thing to always remember - is this - place - 'yourself in their shoes' - (once) and see what that outlook/pov is, not being dependant on bias, hearsay, and what has been formulated through the years.

Trust me - it will look mighty different from that angle... and the reasons (for some) of the actions will become clear... granted - "some good and some bad"

I say the same thing when people complain on how - "bad they have it" - and how their 'lives suck' and some actually - "wish" - they were in a wheelchair.. because I have it easy. ~ ¬_¬

I tell them, strap your legs together for a single day, about 8-12 hours, don't remove those straps, sit in a wheelchair all day, keep them (that way) even when going to the bathroom, and then you can argue on how good/bad it is.

Most - 'say' - they can do it w/o a problem, then again, when they (actually) do it.... they don't even last a hour...

Don't ever wish/say for something you'll regret later, because what it (looks) on the outside (isn't) always what its made out to be...

Because that is unlawful (except at borders or airports).

  9. Fuck TSA

They put my shoes on top of one of my fitteds when I told them NOT to. When I tried to get them off the hat they held me back. They were like, "Sir, your going to have to calm down" and giving me a bunch of shit.

  10. Just don't ever wear a Casio F91W when going through security.

  11. I got put in a holding cell for asking to use the toilet once after waiting 3 hours in immigration border control to process me.

For once I completely agree with you on something.
I think everything would be a lot better if they just undid every single thing GWB did and went back to private security.
Only would we be treated as human beings again we'd also would be safer.
My detest for those security checks is so bad I actually once chose having to drive for 7 hours vs over going through it.

I am sure he gave me wrong impression or I gave him the wrong impression asking me again and again even when I answer his questions "Yes,I am American Citizen", and show him my ID he kept asking me about where I was born, told him I was born in a Military Base on American soil.

Was it Border Patrol? They do that to everyone at any checkpoint they set up.

My experience is probably mixed and typical for most people of my background. I haven't been to NYC in almost 20 years, and that was back when the hookers were still in Times Square and Giuliani only started cleaning up the place. Maybe they have a chip on their shoulder, or maybe it's the culture of the department? I've never run into a bad or rude cop in Chicago, so I don't think it's a city thing. In fact, it's rare to find them walking on the street anywhere in the city except for maybe Grant Park.

Where I live, I've dealt with a few rude ones though: most of them are rookies, and one can easily tell. They're a little "off" with their line delivery when asking for ID/registration/proof of insurance, etc...

I'm surprised that lasted as short as it did. There are videos you can find on YT that show checks like that going on for 30 minutes. They've always waved me through without asking anything beyond: "US Citizen?" I guess when you look and sound like you're from my part of the US, that tends to answer questions before they're even asked.

This is from my personal pov and I see this regularly... especially in my AO.

I have NEVER had any issues when questioned, never been harassed, and I always give the proper answers when asked.

I don't (ever) play the - 'stupid card' - or start - 'debating the scene' - or comparing (the US) to - 'NAZI Germany' - especially when noone has lived during that time frame (realistically) - seriously get fucking real.

It always depends on the answers given and the - 'state of attitude given' - as its mutual.

I live right along the border, pass through check points each day, and have been stopped regularly in the open desert... never been treated other than what is expected.

One can be - 'like the guy in the video' - informed? - (imo - that's debatable) running on the emotional race card? - probably - and it seems to be a routine (for him) and I actually believe he uses it often...

Am I ass-uming on that aspect? - yes, just like he is... did he - 'set it up' - (probably) however we don't really know...

    See what I'm getting at?

US border patrol yep they're generally 99.9% useless.
Once in a blue moon they'll do something useful or stop an actual threat to the general public.

Maybe we need a general big brother shenanigans thread.

I get what you're saying, but the thing that irks me is us law abiding citizens shouldn't be encumbered by these checkpoints.

What is asking "are you a US citizen" going to do? Is an illegal or criminal going to admit so?

It's not like they can ask for proof of citizenship (which would be more effective). I can't see what's the point of this song and dance. Keep it at the actual border.
