on another note... Are there any series you regret watching?
shows that, at the end, made you yell/think "I WANT MY TIME BACK!" and/or "this is gonna leave a metallic taste in my mouth, brain and heart for quite a few weeks to come"

It's very rare that I actually regret watching a show. Even shows I dislike I don't actually want to "take back" the fact that I watched them. I usually find some reason (no matter how small) to be glad that I actually watched it in the first place. I may not like both Eva and Madoka, but I am happy that I watched both (I'm glad I watched Eva so I could see a piece of Modern Anime history and the creator of archtypes now common today firsthand, and Madoka I'm glad I got to see the fan fervor that he show almost instantaneously created on both sides of the Pacific and be a part of the discussions it spawned). I even find reasons to nor regret watching things like Hanasaku Iroha and Guilty Crown (which I dropped halfway), as I reason "At least they looked good..."

In order for me to actually regret watching something it has to be increadibly, unbelievably, atrotiously, abhorrently bad beyond all reason. Only one thing has really met that criteria for me, and that's Blood-C. I will not elaborate as I refuse to talk about it.

As it stands, Blood-C is the only thing I have watched and said "GIVE ME MY LIFE BACK!!!!!"

  2. mmm, this is a tough one, and I'm sure I'll think of one after a few days of forcing my brain to dig up whatever it is that I buried deep down because it was too dark.

That been said, the only movie I can think of right away, that I had to force myself to finish was A Serbian Film, which along with Salo: Or the 120 Days of Sodom are the most fucked up movies I've ever seen, and I mean they are very very very fucked up.

The end of Audition was pretty hard to watch.

As for Anime Grave of the Fireflies is the most depressing I can think of. Remi was pretty depressing half the time but it had a happy ending http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ie_Naki_Ko

EDIT: Dancer in the Dark, beautifully sad

You know it's bad when the movie is banned and the director is murdered.

  5. More specifically, the Endless Eight?

  6. The only thing that got me through Endless Eight is by trying to take note of the differences in every episode. I stopped by episode 3 and decided to watch just one episode a day. It's how I controlled the damage it did to my sched.

Yes, but that was bad enough to make me lose interest in the whole season

At least you didn't have to see it from Nagato's prospective going through the same two weeks 15,498 times or 594 years.
It must have been a special kind of hell for her as she remembered every loop.

I wonder if Nagato ever just snapped and just murdered everyone in some of those loops.

Nah. Or else she'd have been insane until the last loop

  10. she might've tried a few different things to break the loop...
although thinking further, as she would... she'd realize that if killing everyone stopped the loop, then the future past would be the one where she killed everyone, and there'd be very little point to it.

also, it would have upset the viewers...

    I regret watching Narutaru.
and Gundam 00, since it was one of those shows that needlessly killed off or maimed characters for the sole purpose of sport.
the only reason that wedding party got slaughtered was so that the girl would have a reason to hate the gundams, for instance... CodeGeas also suffered from this affliction, but it actually did in a good, believable way.

oh yeah... on the original question:
I stopped watching Saikano. WAAAY too sad for me.
but I also kind of regret not watching the whole thing, since it, like EVA, was history in the making.
I think I dropped Boogiepop Phantom as well, because it was too gruesome... then again, I think I only watched one episode.

  11. I never finished Paranoia Agent, but that doesn't mean that I never will.

Who knows maybe she got bored with being insane like Professor Paradox from Ben 10 and decided to become sane again and work on trying to break the loop.

    Haruhi season 2

Despite me hating the animated Endless Eight(there is no experience that compares to watching E8 as it was coming out, something I have he displeasure of knowing all too well) I do not regret watching the 2nd season of Haruhi in general.

At the time I was waiting for Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody for quite a while, and I thoroughly enjoyed it (and still do to this day as it is an integral part of the story which is very well done) and even though I didn't know about the Sigh back then, I still enjoyed it and it too was a turning point (this time concerning Haruhi's personality).

So yeah, even though I absolutely hate E8, I don't regret watching Haruhi season 2. That's how I feel on it.

  14. I watched the first 3 episodes of Endless Eight until I realized they really were doing eight episodes, and then I skipped everything until the last one.

  16. I don't regret having watched them all, but then I watch any time-loop movie I find.
