  1. If anyone was curious what this "Election" actually looks and the what the end result is of all these thousands of Otaku's voting

You can see clips of all the acceptance speeches. (It wont be available after sometime on June 8th.

    http://www.akb48plus.com/senkyo/en/result.html

Or you can watch their YouTube Channel.

A brief run-down. It was Yuko Oshima's win by a mile (after she lost last year to Maeda Atsuko) and Mayu Watanabe (my personal fav) easily secured 2nd. Ranks #3-10 are generally the supporting All-Stars and main battle tested talent of AKB48 with ranks #11-16 rounding out the budding "Supporting" talents. - The Main "16" are basically the 'Media troup'

Apparently that story about the guy who voted for Sasshi over a 1,000 times if it is true may have actually caused an upset of sorts. This guy: http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2012/06/06/akb48-otaku-casts-1770-votes-why-do-they-do-this/ Apparently she jumped several spots to gain 4th rank - beating out the much loved #5 & #6.

#7 Kojima Haruna gained in the rankings from being like 11th? While some 'established pros' lost ranks but actually gained more individual votes than the previous years. Tomomi Itano retained her 8th rank for a 2nd year after being demoted from the top 5 in the previous year.

It was funny that at 10 minutes to 9 PM (JST) All the girls who were 16 and younger had to get up & leave the auditorium because there's some Law (child labor law?) about them being on LIVE past 9 O'Clock or something. Suddenly half the main seats are empty - lol.

This is the girl that some guy voted over 1,000 times for

    Rino Sassihara

Haruna Kojima rank #7 (cause she's fuckin' HOT!)

    Mayu Watanabe #2

    Yuko Oshima #1

If you don't care - DON'T Watch! and continue NOT caring. I watched it with a LIVE english vocal translator - it was pretty fun.

She kinda grew on me. She's like the 'Smart Girl' or Glasses Idol. She's "cute" but not really in the same league with the top 8. She is very good at commentary & interviews.

  4. So Maeda Atsuko left?

No she withdrew from the election because she will "leave the group" at the end of July?. So anyone who saw the AKB48 documentary "The Show Must Go On!" could easy tell what that Atsuko would've won again this year.

  6. When did this air?

  7. On 6/6/12 at 5:20 PM JST - which if you watched it LIVE and commercial FREE on Google+ it started at 4:20 AM on the East Coast.

It was also on Fuji TV. It was shown on Google+ with an English translator and it was funny that the announcers had to make 'side commentaries' about various girls to keep the show moving while the show was in commercial break.

The break off into chats like:

Male: "Yes, yes that Kojima Haruna, she must be thrilled"
Female: "Yes - she worked very hard"
Male: "The fans have certainly rallied this year to boost her rank"
Female: "All the girls are trying so hard and it's nice to be noticed"
Male: "She's really gotten a lot more confident over the years"
Female: "Yes, she has a big year ahead of her"
Male: "All the girls have really pulled together this year"
Then it just jumps to into them saying

Male Announcer: 6th position with 50,777 votes, Team "A" - then the Idols name....then it continues normally...

By the time theywere announcing the teens they had to remind the audience that the "Chatter" (banter) was interrupting the flow because the Fuji TV broadcast was in commercial - lol.

  8. Sometimes Im wondering if this votes are legit/fair, do they limit to 1 vote per person? Or is like what the main page said, One can just buy over 1500 CD just to vote mutiple times on the same person.

  9. These elections are more rigged then the presidential elections.

As far as I know - it is literally as many votes as you can cast. From what I've seen you buy a CD and the voting card has a serial # on it - You then goto the AKB48 website and punch in the serial # and vote for whomever you want. 1 card = 1 vote. 1,000 cards = 1,000 votes.

You'd think it'd be smarter to just charge for the ballot and offer the CD as an after thought - like a guy who buys 20 Beanie-Babies Happy Meals, why throw away 20 hamburgers & 20 Fries?

They did say Voting was way up this year, so some girls gained or lost ranks but still got more votes than the previous year. The hand-shaking tickets make sense. It's not any stranger than the tickets & prizes for the "K-On!" movie.

While I certainly see why you'd think that - Math-wise I don't think it's the case. The 'Main 16' are the face of AKB48 - I really don't care about the subgroups, sister groups, & starlets...would know if I fell over them. They do a ton theater shows and such so it's like an "Idol workshop"

If I had to choose - I love "Momoiro Clover Z" and their songs way more than ALL of AKB48. I just like 'some members' of AKB48 and I enjoy the "AKBingo" show.
