as I've mentioned many times before, Magic Knight Rayearth was the series that got me down the rabbit hole of the Otaku life.
Their character design, but their eyes in particular was one of the major things that drew me to that series, and to this day I measure all other eye design on a Rayearth scale.
I'd say Minami from Lucky Star had the best eye design bellow Rayearth's
