A US prison basically a high security warehouse for people that seems to be setup to breed as much violence as possible.
Low security prison ends up costing about $22,600 a year and maximum security $36,000 a year.

I still like the idea of making them work. I think it's good for reforming them. I notice all the trashy people I know who keep getting arrested have no job, but the ex cons i work with who keep the job, don't reoffend.

Prison guards are not cheap.

Though the real drain is the privately ran prisons as these get X money for every prisoner they get so they try to push for longer sentences for what normally would be minor crimes ie drug possession,shop lifting and minor weapons charges.
This BTW is not a minor crime and these two should be kept away from the general public.
Hopefully they both get sent to Missouri as it would be cheaper then California.
The bad part the conditions would be a lot better as the prison system there is no where near as crowded as California's.
