Thanks for the recommendation. I'll give it a go.

Is there any mention of Neo-Noir? I've been spending a lot of time lately trying to find some new titles to watch. While I still have a ton of classics, something about Neo-Noir has piqued my interest.

You and everyone else familiar with the original.

NO SHITE!!! ~ Jonathan Frid is rolling over in his fresh grave right now.
I also heard that the Depp/Burton Team respected the original and decided to (lighten up) the newer version somewhat, I mean (seriously?) - this what they call - "respecting"?
and I just watched - "Battleship"
I'll (just) copia/pastia what I placed on FB.
- (version 2)~ the film - "Battleship" - sucked so much arse, that it was pathetic...
Useless female lead, useless romantic side story, useless acting, and it was too loud! ~ and WTF the aliens are defeated? - again?
When will we see a film where the earth is really defeated by an alien invasion (aside from) the south of the border? - and that the aliens are not defeated by a sudden new virus, acclimatisation issues, sudden (convinent) plague, and weaponry that supposedly didn't work before, yadda - yadda - yadda - yadda!
(seriously) what a waste of film making.. Hollywood should (just) stop rehashing old films, stop making fucking lame-arsed remakes, and destroying what dignity is left of the classics.
@Ichi
Should I go watch it? I saw alot of negative stuff about it with product placement and it going against the moral of the orignal story, but there are Once-ler feels all over Tumblr which makes it seem great.

You're very welcome.
I watched Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge (honestly) tonight. I recommend it, but I have a weakness for certain types of shows that might not appeal to everyone. Now I'm reading the short manga on which it's based.
i think Battleship is ok, much better than any of Michael Bay movie, but its not great either. And i agree with reviewer that say the story/battle move like board game. BUT!!! the veteran battleship scene is so cheesy i can't stand to watch it.
Some dude: we don't have a ship to fight the alien
Main dude: yes we do
*Look at the museum USS Missouri battleship*
Some dude: "This is battleship is old we can't operate this, blablabla"
Main dude: *look around the battleship helplessly* in slowwwww mooooo
*then an old dude pose on main deck
*then another one pose on the left, the other on the right, one pose at the top
*then couple of old dude marching in slow mooo
HOLY FUCK is this a fucking Super Sentai? and the audience is clapping...seriously?. God damn it, i can't stand how people conceive it as epic-sort-of-comeback scene...I get it, the veteran are coming back to join the battle, but the level of chessiness shown in this particular scene is blown out of proportion.
Don't expect too much from a movie based on a board game. But then again, there was that one based on an amusement park ride....
I kinda wanted to go watch battleship, but then again, tomorrow the avenger scomes out, so I'll pass and wait for a dvd release, I guess. Unless they keep it in the cinemas for one more week!
I saw The Terminal~ So sweet

You won't have to wait too long for it to go into the Bargain Bin at wallymart. But if it bombs so bad that the dvds are given away as free comps.... well free is free.

Dude, youre telling me. I've seen 90% of the entire series. I own multiple DVD sets & Reunion DVD's, the Soundtrack, and seen both theatrical films. I've met & gotten autographs from some of the main characters (My fav being Katheryn Leigh Scott) and I've even heard some of the "Newer" audio books- continuing adventures as read by David Selby & Lara Parker.
I even loved the 90's remake (Ben Cross) and seen parts from the pilot for the NEVER Pick-up WB "Dark Shadows" remake (from years ago)- I know & love "DS"
I was mortified. The only thing I like is Chole Mertz (Hit-Girl from "Kick Ass") as Carolyn.
There may be a 'Saving Grace' - apparently there was a comic book in the 70's that was a lighter take on the "DS" franchise where Barnabus while in the coffin (*Before Willie Loomis opens the tomb* in the actual series) is having a strange dream that he comes out of the Coffin and is like a 'Super-Hero' to the Collins family and they all know his secret and are totally cool with him being the Collin's family protector. Like I said Comic Book (or maybe it was a Light Novel?).
There's speculation that THIS movie is a take off of THAT...and then the movie ends on a 'Happy Note' - and the Real Barnabus is disturbed by Loomis and he's really a blood thirsty fiend and it's NOT fun & games - and THAT's the end of the movie.
Having NOT seen it yet - I can only speculate. My initial research shows that people Katheryn Leigh Scott (Josette/Maggie Evans)are totally behind the Burton vision - maybe they're sick of the "Campy b-movie" vibe and wanted to milk it for laughs like "The Brady Bunch" movie did.
I mean with "Buffy", "Angel", "Forever Knight", "The Vampire Diaries", "Being Human", "True Blood", Twilight movies, "Blade", "Night Watch", the Anne Rice novels, and ALL the anime's that feature Vampires....it's a little hard to re-invent "Dark Shadows" without it looking 'dated' to a newer audience.
We loved it because until a few years ago there was only the "Buffy-verse" and "Forever Knight". I wish NBC had given a full season to "Dark Shadows" in '91 - it was a mid-season debut that started on a Sunday and was quickly moved to Friday nights at 9? or 10?- that's the Kiss of Death for Sci-Fi. It would've thrived on Sun, Mon, Tue, or Wed as a Horror Drama. NBC complained it cost too much - Kinding me? The first DS was made in a set the size of a Phone Booth.
This is what "DS" is...creepy music, tacky sets, and Soap-Opera style LIVE to Tape character drama - This is when Angelique curses Barnabus - It's sooo Cheesy but that's why it's 'cool' - This was a cutting edge narrative in 1967 - and they practically made the saga up as they went along.
The shitty effect & the over-acting- Quentin Collins was the real 'Bad Ass' on "DS".

After seeing these two clips (if you care to view them) Watch Burtons trailer for "DS" and you'll see what a awkward mess Burton made of a show that was so simple 5th graders could re-create the "mood" better than Burton does.

Ooh, Quentin the werewolf. I haven't seen him in years.
Anyway, brace yourself: I agree. I won't be seeing that movie.

One of the reasons Dark Shadows became so popular was that it aired at 4:00 in the afternoon. Mothers were busy starting dinner and the kids had just got home from school. The kids had control of the TV set. It was the first soap opera that captured the youth market.
I think the main reason the 90's version failed was because soon after it started airing, the first gulf war started. The war coverage knocked many of the episodes off the air, so it couldn't get much of an audience.
just came back after watching The Avengers :D
best marvel movie ever!
I watched fight club yesterday for the first time. It blew my mind.
