I hadn't thought of Clarke. I grew up primarily watching Carl Sagan on Cosmos and reading Asimov's science articles. I've read 2001 & 2010, but they didn't really impress on me very well. Didn't hate them, just never really got into them.

Clarke and Asimov were kinda like best friends forever~, they were a pair. Probably much of Asimov's writings were influenced by Clarke, and vice-versa. I get why you or somebody might love one and not care about the other, but so far to me it's quite unusual a person remember of one and not of the other.

"The Asimov-Clarke Treaty stated that Asimov was required to insist that Arthur C. Clarke was the best science fiction writer in the world (reserving second best for himself), while Clarke was required to insist that Isaac Asimov was the best science writer in the world (reserving second best for himself)."

Yep, exactly what I was referring to.

In all seriousness, I can't help but wonder about the timing of this.

Possibly Tim Burton did away with him to generate publicity for his train wreck of a movie, or Mr. Frid had the horrendous misfortune to witness an advance screening of said train wreck.

He will be greatly missed by the legions of his devoted fans.

Supposedly he has a cameo and approved of the film. I'd like to see that in writing.
