[News Flash] ZUN is Getting Married!

All joking aside, I really don't think that much will change as far as Touhou is concerned. (or at least I hope so)
I would really like to think this is just a huge troll but he said it himself on ustream today. The marriage ceremony will be held on the same day as Reisaitai 9 so he'll be absent and I wouldn't expect a demo for a new game to be released either.
Apparently he's been with his girlfriend for quite a while now and only now decided to get married, also his parter was even helping him with programming the games, tough I don't know how much of that is true.

Unofficial sources say this is ZUN's new wife.

Maybe she's like a real life Konata Izumi and nothing will really change.

He's not really milking that much cash from it, or at least not as much as he could if he wanted to.

Yah he could put the games on XBL and PSLive if he wanted.
I think the reason why he does not overly commercialized the games is to keep that community feeling and so some large company including the one he works at for his day job doesn't try to claim it.

I wonder if she is a touhou fan

Why would he have the ceremony on the same day as Reitaisai?

    To test his love.

  3. I'm waiting for him to open up that restaurant/brewery he said he wants to do. I want me some damn ZUN approved alcohol!

Suika should be the spokes character for the beer.

  5. If this is true congrats and if that is his wife to be then he did pretty well considering who he is

You're really overestimating the popularity of Touhou. Don't let its huge otaku fanbase make you think that the rest of Japan loves it as well.

Plus, the games themselves aren't anything spectacular. Only a Touhou fantard would consider them to be classics.

Finally for something that was created by one man these games are pretty good considering. I seriously doubt you could make something any better. He did something that most people cant do and that is take something you love and created and make it remotely popular.

  6. Damn... He could legitimately open shops with the Touhou characters as Mascots without copyright issues.

Well to be fair any video game is more or less fairly niche in Japan.

  13. Since she's a programmer herself, this could actually make the games better. Plus shes kinda cute. Not bad Zun.

Hopefully she is a fan of Meiling and Flandre. They need to be in a main series game together similar to Sakuya/Remilia.

Like I said I don't think it's gonna affect the games at all.
They've been together since 2004 and married for half a year.
They're just now having a formal ceremony.

Sorry if I sound too extreme using the word - "milking". ^^
    I didn't mean ZUN squeeze out everything. ^^;
I mean Touhou(a milk cow) is a "brand" which ZUN(the farmer) can milk it slowly for his survival. ^^

Yeah, hardly see any other stuffs of Touhou (or I never check properly) by ZUN - notice just figure/dolls, games, cd albums and short light novels(stories). ^^

I should hope that he can make better games than me. He's been making games for over a decade and I've never made a game before.

But I disagree that he was the one who made Touhou popular. He may have made Touhou, but the fan work is what draws in more fans, not the games themselves.

  20. I hope she can draw.
