People in Asian countries are increasing westernized. So there's really not much difference in the current people between West and East. Dun be fool by the media - saying this group of people better or whatsoever - Stereotyping.
Due to globalization, both East and West are eating the same food, drinking the same drinks, wearing the same clothes, doing/enjoying the same things, watching the same MTV, surfing the same net, exposing to the same marketing/media. There's really not much differences.
But what makes us differences is our national culture, families background, friends we mixed with, workplace culture and ultimately/ most importantly our personality/character which we shaped from young - what we believe in - the right and wrong.
So there're always good, bad and ugly people exist in both East and West. It's depends on how lucky we can find and meet the good ones.

In Australia-NZ, some white people I know cook rice, but not for every meal.
