A Plush Toy Line I'm Starting

  1. Hi everyone. I made this cartoon character plush doll, and wanted to see what you think!

I'm doing a fundraising, to try and make a full line.
    Here's the link: http://kck.st/zkB0Kn
You can also find more images here from the storybook.

Let me hear your feedback, and if you'd like to help out that'd be great.

    Thank you.

  5. Looks too plain and ordinary.

  6. Hi.

    Lucifer
Yes, I've heard that it's a bit plain from many people. I will think of ways to spruce it up, perhaps you have some ideas?

H-Ero, thanks for the heads up. I'm simply seeing what the anime crowd thinks of the project. I'd like to think I'm not blatantly advertising.

  7. You are advertising, but I might as well give my opinion on this.

I agree that it's too plain, but I do like the design. I think it needs something extra. It's got a big head, so maybe you could include a small design on its forehead (and Kuro and any other similar looking characters could get different forehead designs). Maybe a kanji or something.

Are you charging $25 per plushie? That seems like way too much for something with such a simple design. I would suggest making it smaller. A plushie like this would sell much better if it was small and cheap (like $5-$10), instead of big and expensive. Wait until it becomes more popular before making a large plushie.

  8. Ok, thank you for your input. I've gotten that advice before too, to start small first. I guess 20 bucks plus 5 for shipping didn't seem that much to me. I've seen dolls that size go for much more.

I am currently looking into ways to give a more distinct visual characteristic to the character.

  9. It seems so boring...maybe its the color?

  10. I had no idea the retail of the plush was $25. Doesn't seem worth that value for a plushie with one solid color with a very simple face "design". But as H-ero had stated, should be small and with something with more character, original. You should do some extensive research and look around, use some reference.

  11. You can put the price of $25 if you put some tits or ass on the plushy.

  12. Too white & too big.
---> It would be difficult to bring it around on the street (girls usually have too many things in bag, most boys won't carry something big around).
A key chain dimension would be okay, thought.
And for being all white, it would get dirty easily.

So, your actual big plush doll would only be at home. On the sofa or on the bed. But then it should attract attention or having a decorative function.
Big plush is okay for something already famous, or having a particular design. For something new, it would usually be something easily carry around - a form of visible publicity.

    It's just my opinion, thought.

Doesn Kyuubey look like that too?

  15. Needs red hair.

No, but rly, you should give the customer a CUSTOM OPTION. "Tell us what it will look like and we'll do it for you!"

And you can have text on it's front and back and it will give people a chance to give each other presents with inside jokes and stuff.

Now for the ordering part; I want one that looks like a cute Yoko.

    Voilá.

  17. As a man who collects a lot of plushies
    I have some constructive criticisms:

    - The eyes: They're not bad but they're waaaay to simple; they need a tiny bit more detail or at least thickness since your plush is plane. I would suggest trying out some eyes like these:

    - The coloring: White is actually fine but it's rather generic in terms of plushies; It would be okay if the plush was one of those that had features tailored to electronics - ex pocket placement for MP3, built in clock, etc, but for just a plushie it's likely gonna get overlooked

    - The character itself: This is where I have a major issue; the character isn't really well known so aside from being a visually appealing pillow of sorts it won't create a consumer base that a character with a backstory would - could you try to create a 4-koma of sorts before producing these?
