This is why anime is dying...

I haven't watched it, but I plan to.

    To watch Planetes -
You will probably have to find it in torrents, because the only site that has the most streaming links is Kumby, and you know that place is popup ad hell.
almost every other site had their Planetes links at megavideo.

  2. You make it sound like pirating it is a bad thing compared to streaming it illegally.

I'm a collector so I like being able to display the anime I own on a shelf instead of saying "I have this many shows on my external hard drive". Plus some stuff can become of value.

  6. Might not have any value to you but there will always be people willing to shell out money for rare stuff.

^^ this is very truthy, particularly for fans, afficianados and fanatics.

Later bloomers too who view some ancient anime and have the same values as peter here, will shell out hard cash or fuck up their credit to get what they want.

Meh, I get my dvds this way as well. Its one thing to get a cheap dvd new that might be just a bootleg piece of shit with crappy subs.
Or a previously owned dvd, that was purchased at the original or nearly the original release price. Because it was a better quality released item.
Most folks when they realize its a worthless shitty copy - toss it or try to return it, if they try to resell it - its impossible to pass it off as a better quality item if its crap to begin with.

besides, the piracy nazi's won't have anything to bust you with, in case they decide to make a case against you.

btw - Mu Monkey (another anime site) has the Planetes series on their lists if anyone is interested.

  10. No i understand. I just don't have the space, the proper job and the proper financial status to keep up with that shit anymore. I used to be a huge buyfag, buying figures and DVD box sets. Got rid of all of this crap when i realized this crap wasn't helping me put a roof over my head and food on my table. I'm not gonna haul my stuff all over the place either when i can simply re-sale and the re-sale "value" is not much. I'm still on my 10 year old desktop here and i'm doing the best i can to enjoy the stuff i like.

As long as i can keep up with what's being aired on TV in Japan, i'm all good and i'm sure a lot of people can understand that as well.

  11. I only buy what I think I really enjoy and will rewatch (or something incredibly stupid which I can make fun of later for real cheap).
