Thats the day when the Mayans come back in their space ships and kill everyone with their laser shootin' nazi raptors. also north korea (some say china) starts nuclear war, and a comer or large asteroid(s) poops all over earth and we die.
those are the most prevalent theories summed/mushed up, I'm sure there are others more creative out there.
