I'm certain that a lot of people had fears of the Apocalypse on November 11, 1111. Just like there was concern that the Second Coming would happen on New Year's Eve 999, or the Y2K panic, for that matter. Not to mention all the calculations that amateur theologians have made over and over in the last couple hundred years. The freaky dates came and went, and people went on with their lives. It makes me think that a lot of these people want the world to end; they wouldn't keep predicting it otherwise.
