Movement against the current wave of bans

  1. As discussed in a previous thread (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/forums/topic.php?id=1179), would you actively participate in a website dedicated to promoting freedom of speech, especially regarding the recent issues about eroge and loli?

If yes, does the URL yestofreedom.org seem fine to you? Or would you rather see something else?

Any suggestions? Also, if you have extensive experience in web design, your help would be highly appreciated.

  2. just as a reminder.

if you are going to mention bans on eroge,, hentai, or lolis.........and this website would be in support on not banning them.

for it to mean anything........the members of said website, must be of the legal age to view such content or you are shooting yourself in the foot before you even start it.

This is a given. However I believe the website itself would remain as anonymous as possible, to encourage those who maybe afraid of defending the tender subject at hand. The letters sent would probably be better with a typed signature or name at the end e.g k. Oris

There are numerous online communities (especially games and technology related) who would more than likely sympathise with our cause.

Well said, syca. I agree. Though non-anonymity, would strengthen the legitimacy of such a thing, but to just gain sympathy for a cause anonymity works wonderfully.

  5. ~ This effort will require complete team effort and commitment... plus the faith in each other.

It will require endless devotion, time, and dedication in the (knowing) difficulties that would probably lay ahead, let alone be encountered.

Who would be in charge of the site? (or maintain its integrity?).. a singular or a group of admins? ~ How would each communicate?

A recommendation of a IM of sort(s) with the *heads of mind* in order meet, to think out stratagems, go over any problems, and possibles that occur and so forth.

Sound like allot of time will be needed and you will (at least) need someone who has plenty of it...

    Lets see....hmm.....

    Shall I volunteer? ;)

    I voted ~ *yes* ~ btw...

  6. IRC works wonderfully well for communication. This thread I assume is trying to poll who on sancon would be interested to in a long term campaign against this (which sounds scary and hard but for anyone who isn't running it , it consists of sending an e-mail a day). As for time, that I have plenty of. I would gladly write updates, letters, and attempt to spread the word accross the internet to the best of my ability.

I'm in.... if you can use me... I'm old, but maybe it will help.

I also feel that those involved need to (meet) and discuss all methodical avenues as I mentioned...

Not to be micromanaging, but to ensure all (who are involved) are in the loop, and to be better prepared in all aspects... from past experiences (work and Military), team-work always is best.

Besides, my written announcement (here) has already placed me in the ~ "involved category"

  8. The only thing I can see back-firing is the whole loli subject maybe use a another word to describe it or something. The site can be good an all but people like attacking weak spot. Example would to be, if it got big, the support I mean and big names like Bill O'Reilly would love to exploit that weak spot and end up making us look like total failures. Even tho it wouldn't even matter it will just be one of those weak spots.

This is what I meant by (keep it all within a continuous communicative manner, to foresee and plan for such possible "feedback")

One thing I learned from the military... is expect the unexpected and plan for all contingencies...

There are perfectly good arguments for loli, I'm assuming we are defending them both. Considering both are under heavy fire at the moment. Perhaps separate letters should be written for the subject of rape games and loli games.

  11. Well on a Tip note: make sure you have good website security last thing needed is a hacker tearing down the site. I have witness hackers being paid to kill sites people don't like. I've had it happen to me and its a pain in the ass to lose information.

    Backups are a wonderful thing.

  13. @ MINN,

Be it loli or rape, we will undoubtedly defend a lot of these "weak spots". But giving up on one of these aspects would be the same as giving up on the whole thing, as we are talking about Freedom of Speech. But of course, extensive explanations of each point would be provided.

    ---

Now, for the admins. I was thinking about an organisation as close to communism/anarchism - depends on your point of view ;) - as possible, where every writer/contributor would be an admin.

    Finally, a few questions:

    - Should I purchase yestofreedom.org right now?
    - What would be the (open-source please) software that would power the site, if any?
    - Does anyone knows how to set up an IRC channel?

I'll do some legwork for you.

    First find: http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/changuide.html
----Its dissuasion piece: http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/changuide-rant.html <--the 'pop quiz' seems like a good review of skills.

There's also: http://drupal.org/node/497932, which is a question/answer version, but it doesn't seem like there's much more info the first link doesn't already include.

I can set up an IRC channel, I can do it right now lol.

As for purchasing the domain I believe it would be wise to wait until we definetly have the people who can make the site first. The I'm ignorant in the world of opensource web dev software so you know more than me on that one.

Trust me when I say paid to kill sites, I didn't spend 2 years in networking and security classes not to know a thing or 2. Its not hard to attack a backup server using tracers even if hosted by a server company.

This one guy showed me a program created that attacks wording
lets say you backed that information up on a CD and used another pc and tried to use that same website, that was attack well somebody left a nasty program that just traced back to that new cpu, and then its up to the hacker to go from there.

Its nothing to worry about because no-one goes to that Extreme. they would have to be bored as fuck. or paid a shit load of money. but just don't underestimate it. animes can tell you that much XD

  18. CS and sycamore, your comments were enlightening.

I believe I, IRC-wise, enter in the category "has a lot of catching up to do". Therefore, I leave that aspect in your hands, sycamore, as you seem fairly more confident in your skills than I do.

    @ rudiguur,

Is it just me or you've changed - in a good way - since the first time I've seen you post on Sankaku (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/forums/topic.php?id=938&page=3&quoted=22718)?

    /edit

Thank you sycamore. I'm connecting right now.
