Well, console gaming ≠ pc gaming. It's still a nice move, though.

I hope now more games come to pc, but through stream fuck microsoft.

  4. I don't like that it's implemented into Windows 8. It should be a stand alone application just like Steam. Also it does not appear as useful for PC gaming as it is for Console gaming. Bluntly speaking it seems like they're just merging "Games for windows live", a system that I really do not like, with the OS and adding some extras.

Async multiplayer will allow Windows PCs, Windows Phone and Xbox 360 users to play against each other using multiplayer and matchmaking functionality. The support brings a new level of multiplayer gaming to Xbox LIVE once Windows 8 is available.

This is already possible, the Xbox and PC part at least, so I'm not sure how it brings a "new layer of multiplayer gaming".

I haven't looked into it that greatly as of yet so there might be... "benefits" that I haven't heard of as of yet.

  5. @Satoko:- its a gimmick! not to mention the fact that Microsoft made it ONLY for windows 8 instead of a standalone update makes it more rigged, not to mention the fact that no one likes Games for windows live(even I get pissed signing in everytime I want to play blazblue or gta) and stream be the ultra superior being it is, Microsoft just wants to try and compete.

  6. I don't really care about the fact that it's only for Windows 8; the part that I don't like is that it's currently planned to be implemented into the OS just like Internet Explorer is in the older versions of Windows.

Steam is a electronic store when you break it down, even if it also functions as a DRM. Unless Microsoft plan to sell games trough it (which is possible seeing as they do it for the xbox) it's just a social-gaming connection, alternatively a full time online demanding DRM if future games will require it to run.

[Edit:] Lets scratch that. I'm quite sure that Microsoft plans to sell something trough it, even if it might just be DLC's. In that case I wonder if EA or Valve will end up suing them since it practically undermines their services having Microsoft's version "forced" onto the consumer. Do mind that they also got sued for having Internet Explorer integrated into the OS, so that's another thing they might get on their neck.

  7. Well this is how the ball rolls, microsoft, is just trying the usual "make a quick buck" schemes, I don't blame then it IS a business however
I do agree will Valve and EA sue because it is built inside the OS or not thats a interesting question however am wondering if they would finaly sell games of G4WL and try not to piss off the customer(asking a lot from MS) I like stream because I can download the games, MS could learn from that.

Support for cross-platforming this gen is piss-poor. Super Street Fighter IV has plenty of players playing on Live via 360, but us PC players can't fight them.

Perhaps with better feature integration for Windows 8, devs will have more incentive to allow cross platforming.

I'm aware that you cannot play with Xbox 360 players VS PC players with SSFIV. But this does not invalidate what I said seeing as Shadowrun fully supports cross-platform multiplayer with PC Players and Xbox 360 players. It is fully possible as of now, it is just that very few developer attempts it.

I know, and perhaps Microsoft is trying to egg more devs into trying via Windows 8.

I'm not a very avid MS fan, but I can't avoid Windows since I'm a gamer, which is why Windows 8's performance matters to me.

I hardly think so. With a wiimote your hand is always a little unstable, while you have the support of the desk with a mouse

The added weight of the Wii remote compared to the use of a mouse makes this feel quite tricky, at least to a start. Perhaps it works better if you use one of those gun-holder things. At least it should give a slightly more realistic feeling over using a mouse!

But on the other hand; the developers won't have to include artificial breathing to make the aiming more realistic!

True that, and that's why I don't criticize those who play FPSs with a wiimote (yeah, I didn't say that, because really, when you think of nintendo you think of wii sport, not CoD. I was referring to ps3 and xbox)

My point still stands though. The mouse is the most efficient

  17. Well you could always think of the guys playing Killzone 3 with the Playstation Move if that feels better. It's practically the same type of controls after all.

Also I think we should hold a Red Orchestra 2 tournament here! You can use a Wiimote if you feel like it but I'll stick with the mouse.
I would expect dying seeing as I'm not really a FPS-gamer

I was actually thinking wtf nin, then realize you got a point, the wii remote is harder to handle then a keyboard and mouse and if master is actually pretty nice but I got to say I prefer the keyboard and mouse over it still, plus the keyboard and mouse are practically the best for FPS, a controller (to me) is more for platforms/actions like DMC and GOW and fighting games like blazblue and SF4 then for mouse and keyboard but we can use almost all the controller on pc so it ok :P
