Original English Manga Fanboys

  1. Why do fans of Western comics that try to look like manga get so pissed off when you deny that it's actually manga because it's not Japanese?

Sometimes I just have something I want to discuss, and after making sure there isn't an existing thread, I make a new one. I don't give a shit what the popular thing to do is. Discussing new topics is what forums are for. You don't like a topic, piss off and don't be a troll.

You know, making so many threads that 15% of first page consists of your threads perfectly qualifies as spam. I really appreciate the leniency of moderation on this forum, but I sure wouldn't mind if the moderators made an exception here and just pass a short ban. A three- or four-day ban would be enough.

ok i'm not sure what i was trying to accomplish with the drunkard irish act but mainly you don't take advice, don't learn from your mistakes, and should really go meet GTR and antiweeaboo on the other side of sancom, i get the feeling you'll be the merriest trio ever ^0^

  9. Clearly, none of you understand what an 'Internet forum' is supposed to be. Tell me, is there someone here who can differentiate between his asshole and a hole in the ground?

sancom's modus operandi is screwing the rules despite having no money :P

So i doubt our forum conforms to the norm for other ones, not that i've ever been to any other forums.

Also for your last queston about holes, lemmee get back to you on that one, we still have to run a few more tests.

  11. I for one am enjoying your threads shomonan.

So long as they're not asinine topics or have too much overlap with an existing thread, I don't see any problem with them. What does it matter if you make several at once.

And no, the your day thread shouldn't be a dump all your sh!t here. If there is a legitimate discussion to be had, then it deserves a thread. Better organized than having 3 conversations simultaneously in the same thread.

Everyone's so accustomed to having just a few "main" threads to read.
There are people complaining about no new discussions happening in the forums, and then there are the guys that are nice and cozy in the current setup.

But discussions centered around individual's personal lives doesn't bring out the lurkers or the new members. New threads that spark interest like these do. Someone reads this and goes "oh yeah! I have an opinion on that." and that develops discussion and a new member. If all you've got is a "post pics of yourself" then the lurkers are gonna come in, post 1 picture, and then leave because there's nothing to talk about.

Ja, I'm not directing it at you (alone) abra.

GTR just link drops. If he wrote something more substantial on his first posts, he wouldn't have a problem.
And I don't know what your beef with Anti is. Antiweeaboo is the greatest guy around.

My main point is that these are legitimate threads, and finding fault with them just because they were started by the same person in a relatively short amount of time is hardly a good reason to disregard it as spam.

  15. Anyway, we all know fanboys of anything have commonalities. I'm thinking that there must be something unique about this particular type of fanboy, however. Maybe they have a deep desire to see manga produced by people like them, in their own country? Sorry, but I don't think that's possible. We love Japanese anime/manga/games because they have a uniquely Japanese quality to them. Someone who doesn't live in Japanese culture can't replicate the same feel in a story.

  17. Personally, I don't consider something "manga" just because it's in the same style as most real manga (I consider that "manga-influenced"). I consider a comic to be manga if it is originally in Japanese. If a westerner were to make a comic originally in Japanese then I would consider that manga.

However, a lot of westerners who want to make manga make them in English. I don't consider those to be real manga, since it's missing authenticity of being in Japanese first.

It's similar to how rich, wiggers from the suburbs get pissed when you tell them they aren't ghetto. They can try as hard as they want but that still won't change the fact that they aren't living in the ghetto.

It's not that you should do the "popular" thing, it's that you shouldn't do the annoying thing. Posting a shit-ton of threads is fine as long as they are decent threads. Just be careful that you don't start a bunch of pointless threads (or repeats of other threads).

Lol Nin. I've said what I wanted to say and I don't really have any intention to follow up. I don't really have an interest in this thread in particular so I'm not going to defend this one, but I liked the western portrayal in anime and the age appropriate clothing(closed) threads.

This guy is contributing more than the average user and I just don't wanna see him get shot down because he's making "more threads then he should". Some forums, like animesuki, require you to submit threads to a mod for approval before it's made. While that keeps things clean, how many people do you think get turned off from making a thread just because it's too much bother and might get "shot down" before it's made. People are derailing and attacking new threads/users before it's even had a chance to develop into a conversation. Discouraging people from posting is what I don't want to do.

  20. Haha, calm down Nin-chan.

    To answer this,

America = Individual comic book distribution.

Japan = heavily distributed Magazine prints. Then Tankobon, most generally referred to as Manga.

Even if an American does it "Manga style" he can't truly claim that it is Manga, unless its pound for pound similarity. Usually it just comes out USA-style in a comic book. :p

Unless you're James Patterson. That hack.

    Y'know?
