I'd like to hear people's predictions about what these kinds of forums will be like ten years from now, or even further in the future. Do you see SanCon or similar sites having the same sort of setup, or will people interact in different ways? Will we discuss the same kind of topics?

Don't mean to derail this but this thread made me think about the PS9.
Anyways, 10 years is a long time when I think about it. Hmmm....Sancon might not be around by then. I wonder if we'll have hover cars.

Well, back on track. The style of forums might change, but I think it'll still be text based. That is to assume, stuff like video chatting(skype) doesn't take over internet based communication.

Have you seen the Chat! Chat! Chat! episode of GitS:SAC? I think some chatrooms and forums will be like that, but many will remain text-based because a lot of people online want to remain faceless. They could also be intimidated by another's presence in the room, even if it's virtual.

My take on this....
Since I seen Blade Runner in theatres in 1982, I always thought that we would have progressed somewhat in that direction already, along with the creation of the (famous) BTTF flying/hover skateboard...being that its already 2011..
However...
I believe that forums as this, will still be a viable social venture, though it will be placed onto a more futuristic formate...
Mayhaps, a hologram effect, where we will have the same type of comps/laptops as seen/suggested in animu/films, which are just virtual keys/placements...
I could see also the placement of voice onto the forum as well, like in a separate room/page where the community will chat away in RT verses using a separate program like Skype, but located within the forum itself..
