I started with EoSD and I still haven't beaten it (I don't play it much though). I can get to stage 5 on normal and stage 4 on hard without a continue.

Imperishable Night is one of my favorites. It's "Extra Start" mode, with Keine's hakutaku form and Fujiwara no Mokou, looks impossible, but is easy as hell, since everything has a pattern. And that makes you look addict-level-good when people are watching :3Posted 4 years ago # -

I did and I'm still pretty sane... I think.
The only real problem I had in EoSD was Remilia's first attack. I mean, theoretically it looks so easy to evade and yet I still fail 50% of the time. I also find Meiling to be quite challenging, even more than Patchouli or Sakuya.

Most of us start with EoSD. It's the first for windows OS.
^ I agree about China being harder than Sakuya, but not Patchy :x There's only one move of China that's pretty hard to avoid anyway. Patchy's got patterns but there are still moves which are hard to predict.

Heh I have finally beat it on normal (default lives and such) with Reimu A/B and Marisa A/B. I am not so sane anymore.
Meling's last two spell cards and her mid boss spell hard are pretty brutal. It's her random (but purty colours) patterns that really make her tricky.
Patchy has a few @#$@$@$ moves especially as reimu B (Undine @#!$%@!#$%!@%!@$%!@$%!#$%!#%#$%#).
Sakuya's only hard spell card is the last one really (assuming you use the whole screen to mitigate most of her spell cards effectiveness).
Reimu pattern one sucks but you can actually go inside the biggest bullets white areas. It is not until you get to the black that they hit you (or there abouts). It makes it much easier.
Anyway I found that the big issue with EoSD is that there are less patterns and a lot faster bullets when compared to the other games. PCB for example is much easier (except yuyuko's last spell card) overall since there are so many more patterns. Marisa sucks donkey nuts in it tho.

I started with the PC98 games. Maybe that's why I didn't find EoSD so hard...

^Playing the first 5 after getting used to EoSD is pretty much easier though. Their lunatic modes were only a bit over the hard mode now, compared to the more recent lunatic modes. But the bullet speeds are pretty much the same.

The problem I have with Meiling is that I end up underestimating her quite often and not use the full extent of my abilities to beat her. I mean, she's just a Stage 3 boss and it's the China girl, what can she do? Fall asleep while fighting? She's not hard but it's easy to make a stupid mistake and die if you're not paying attention. Also, if you die in stage 3, you should probably restart and go through stages 1&2 again and that's such a pain. -_- But if you die once or twice in stage 4 or 5 it's not really a big deal.

Yeah, gotta agree with this. In PCB I got to Yuyuko on my first try. It's a lot easier than EoSD.
