LOL i had the EXACT same thought the moment i read his post. Though aside from jazz and rap i like pretty much all genres and then there are exceptions for those two.

Fixed. Your post was full of so much BS, I just had to.
Seriously, fanboyism for music is cool and all, but as soon as you use genres to decide whether you like a song or not, you're just being a tool.
How about you just fucking enjoy music, instead of trying to identify rap as being about social issues more than rock, or some stupid bullshit like that? There are rap songs about that shit, there are rock songs about that shit, there are songs in a lot of different genres about that shit.
Get over yourself.
Also, 'rock' is a ridiculously huge genre right now, and the term means very little, as almost everything falls under 'rock' these days, even a lot of rap/hip-hop/whatever. Just 'cause you heard some shitty 'rock' band on the radio/whatever, doesn't mean you should generalize all over the place.
Thank you for putting him on blast.

I feel Anti means the typical rundown that animefags would listen to. I'm talking about the kids that just watch adult swim and streams of anime that have been published in Shonen Jump in the US already. Examples from my experience:
-Linkin Park
-Avenged Sevenfold
-My Chemical Romance
-Fallout Boy
-Anything that might have came from a WWE soundtrack compilation
-UVERworld
-Asian Kung-Fu Generation( and the only songs they know are Rewrite, Haruka Kanata and After Dark; occasionally I'm surprised and find someone that knows Siren, a rare and joyous occasion.)
-Maximum the Hormone( and only know Zetsubou Billy and WHAT'S UP PEOPLE)
-Do As Infinity( and only now Shinjitsu no Uta, Fukai Mori and Rauken; sometimes Raven if they saw the movie adaption of Uzumaki)
-They like Shoji Meguro's stuff too if they played the last 3 Persona releases.
-They like Uematsu's Other World if they are a FFX fanboy
All of these I've encountered more than once and while I at share interest in at least the Japanese artists I mentioned, I can't hold a conversation with a lot of these claimed fans of these bands. I use to hear someone listening to Rewrite and run over and ask if they've heard Rashinban,Angou no Waltz or Rojiura no Usagi. I always end up disappointed. I just don't get my hopes anymore. I'd even say I'd assume the worst of the situation once it's brought to my knowledge that they like said artist(s).

well, there is one thing we agree on, too many styles are mixed into rock, i even heard that the rock and roll hall of fame even has rappers in it.

In actuality, rock is a blanket term for alternative styles. It came Blues and country. It has noticeable folk influence as well.
Rap, jazz and Rock are all alternatives and share that common blues root. They all share identical traits and have intertwine passed on these.
Aerosmith and Run DMC's walk this way works because lyrical delivery within both genres share the same concept swaying in and out of alignment with the beat of the instrumentals. Simply put, due to it's similarities, sounds good together. It doesn't always work out so well, Horrorcore rap being one example. Crunkcore being another imho. Sorry Anti(jk jk).
Rappers being in RnR hall of fame isn't is an issue really. It's just if they have actually contributed to the advancement of any genre within the spectrum.

Ah well in that case i am guilty of some of it though my taste in non japanese music is FAR more broad than that. I enjoy things like Carmina Burana bands like Amon Amarth and they might be giants and so on. Overall i have very broad taste in music. In fact for most of my life i bought soundtracks such a nice mix is always nice. Though i will admit i like some three days grace and disturbed is definitely a band i enjoy. I at least will go beyond classic anime fandom music if it suits my tastes.
I actually even have an album from a japanese band called bowwow i got of i tunes just to expand my horizons.
I also have similar experiences with people saying they like anime but really only having seen straight up AS style shows. Drives me nuts especially when they ask for shows but say they hat drama and love action ANIME IS ALL ABOUT DRAMA YOU ASSHOLES DEAL WITH IT. heh so annoying so in that regard i can agree with you guys. Though i outright admit most of the music i like is from anime i don't hide it. I just like other types of music as well.

I didn't say anything about any specific ethnicity, I know plenty of moronic people who love rap who aren't black. Could you give me the name of a rapper who doesn't rap about: money, violence, objectifying women, glorifying ignorance, or some stupid dance? Nearly 99.9% of rap is nothing but this, especially everything on the radio. Rap has to be one of the most detrimental aspects of black culture, people listen to this brain numbing crap and go out into society and become walking stereotypes.

Black culture came before rap as rap came from it. In the beginning, rap was about the girl you were interested in having a relationship with, what you did last Saturday with your friends in the park, a joke that was funny enough to right a song with it, appreciation of family and community, the hardships of being underprivileged and the politic stance one would take do to that.
Even through the early 90s movement of gangsta rap, this all held true and consistent. I feel like once the waring of rappers came to the public eye as interesting and even marketable that things went on it's spiraling downfall. Personal matters between rappers leaking into their lyrics and selling confirms that people find conflict interesting. Rappers in which people know not to have any history of gang activity would even write songs this way. This became kind of a corporate trademark to my understanding.
What you say about the objectifying of women, there were a lot of cases when I was growing up that I can say lyrics were taken out of context. Today, I'm not gonna dare argue that artist aren't guilty of all these, but like look at the supposed "target" demographic and then look at who buys the most of it. I'm not fond of niggaz. Not because I so hate my own culture, but because they make it very hard for me to be me. I've been shunned all my life for having interest in other cultures and not conforming to the norms of my own.
You can love rap and not be a fucking asshole. You can love rap and seek a long term monogamist relationship. You can love rap and not dress the way your favorite rapper does. However, it's hard to escape wanting to be general accepted by your peers/community. It's hard to escape the social placement and environment you were born into without the knowledge of other cultures.
I think we should make another thread for this. I don't want to derail a good topic.

Odd Future??????
For anyone that hasn't heard this I'll do you a favour and post the first few lyrics to this song so you don't have to listen to this torture.
"Money, money, money
It's young Khalifa man
And I got money, hoes, money and hoes
I got money, hoes, money and hoes"
Do I really need to go on? Come on man don't make this so easy for me.

It wasn't funny. Or coherent. Anti even replied seriously. I like a number of songs from Odd Future's ranks.
I think this is a very good rap song. It doesn't have hoes, money, or BLING BLING. I use to listen to this on repeat for hours.
So not all rap is shit. Edit: and it doesn't always have to be about societal things in the community aka: da hood
