You guys are being too simplistic, the government of China have a very tight control over communication. The protest in the Middle East sparked some protests in China, but the protests is small in numbers and quickly squashed, this is due to the limited communication that they can't arrange anything bigger. Another deciding factor is that while majority of citizen is against the strip of freedom, they still have a pretty decent life due to China's economic boom. So unless economy begin to fall to the level of Eygpt, there won't be any major uprising. Another thing is culture, unlike US, China is an everyone for himself/herself money-is-all society, to unite will be harder as people will consider the consequences more.
Th last uprising, ended as Tiananmen Massacre, it was close the the edge of a civil war, most army units refused to move in to shoot the civilians, the protest was large enough and even some political leaders were sympathetic. In the end a "special" army unit known for its civilian brutality was send in to deal with it. The cause for failure is still discuss, but most says it is due to the lack of a unify demand, as the protesters were divided into groups each wanting its own thing.

If you could assume that all humans are will act in a logical manner (either in self interest, or for the group, be it humanity as a whole, their local community, whatever), and are equal in ability, government becomes a lot simpler. Since this is not the case some sort of government can be argued to be necessary, to protect society from those with ill intent. Naturally the problem is keeping those with ill intent (or inability) from government positions.

There is about 1.1 to 1.5 million police in the People's Armed Police and the 3.4 million in the ironically name people's liberation Army.
Still trying to control 1.2B billion with about 4.5 to 4.9 million is almost laughable as that 244.8 individuals for each potential government enforcer.
Half of these may refuse to attack their own people and switch sides if there ever is a serious armed revolt.As far as enforcing the great firewall which would fall excursively under PAP it's at least a 1000 to 1.

There really are assholes everywhere, so I implore individuals here not to brand all Chinese people like the bigots on that forum. Fact of the matter is, when the Sichuan earthquake occurred back in 2008, there were plenty of Japanese folks praising and making light of the situation on the inter-webs. The best we can do is dismiss such remarks as the whining of spoiled children, and hopefully one day the lack of attention causes such attitude to go extinct.
If anything, these disasters teach us that the world is an unstable place, and we don't need to fight each other when mother nature is already laying the smackdown on us.

Actually I am a gear head the real kind who is not afraid to get his hands dirty working on something and knows how to use tools such as a torque wrench,a micrometer,and welder.
