Is this game good? I have heard some good reviews from friends who have played the beta, but i'm still not sure if it is worth getting into.

It's not as fluffy as WoW and it is in great shape for release (most major bugs cleaned up). They are also changing a lot of stuff every few days (fairly radical changes) based on feedback.
If you are really curious you can make an account and wait for invite for the open beta (7 or so gig client) or just check it out at a friends place.
It's a week long beta so you have lots of time to decide.

It's alright, been playing the beta.
Haven't gotten any insight into endgame which basically makes or breaks it. Normal gameplay is amusing though the rifts themselves seem to be getting old quite fast and they're not -that- different from the elemental invasion in WoW imo.Here have a screenshot of my (green haired!) character.

Generally I avoid hitting up the rifts every time they pop up. It does get old after the 10000 rift you close heh.
I think the two features I love the most are AoE looting and Auto groups. Man AoE looting is so nice. I also like how the humour is not at the WoW level aka poop quests and jokes.

I imagine Blizzard will conveniently release a major content patch for WoW around the same time this one is released. I'd expect it to sink like a rock or at least tread water like Lord of the Rings and Guild Wars. Maybe I'm just too cynical regarding MMOs. I don't expect anything from any of them until Guild Wars 2, but then again I've had a fanboy hardon for that game since the most wispy rumors back in 2006 or so...
Is this one free to play or does it have an obnoxious subscription, out of curiosity?

Subscription. I would be worried if it was F2P right off the bat. That is not a good sign for a game that is trying to be anything more then a glorified Diablo 2 at launch.

Well I'd point out Guild Wars but that technically isn't an MMO. Its the same concept at least, and it did sell millions, so the F2P model certainly works for online games. It just has to be very good in order to make enough profit off just the game sales without anything coming in later, whereas a subscription based game just has to sell enough and then retain enough to recoup the costs through subscription fees.

I don't know if very good is the correct term. If you look at LotRO it failed as a P2P but is doing much better as a F2P making money of the "carrots" it sells you.
Farmville is another example. I would not call it good (from a technical standpoint it is horrible) but it just has the carrots to keep people playing and paying.
Also depending on the game F2P doesn't usually have near the kind of server hosting that a P2P game does (in the case of diablo 2 it was just a few login/lobby servers.
As I say I am always hesitant about F2P games. They can be great but modern thinking has the whole reward for $$$ system in place now and that can be problematic.

Guild Wars 2 will also go for the same concept as Guild Wars 1 when it gets to payment, while this time aiming to be a true MMO.
While allot of games that starts of as F2P tends to be a bit so-so I really think that GW2 will work and be a great game. The demo already recieved 2 awards, quite a good start considering that the game isn't out yet.Posted 4 years ago # -
So I played for about one hour of the beta before it ended 2 hours and 14 minutes ago and find it really nice
I grew tired of MMOs with all the ones I played (except for RO and Aika) but this one really gave me a good impression and fun time (even though I was alone .__.)
A really good game worth the moneyAnd so my question is, who is going to (pre-)order it or has already?
I'm still wondering whether to get it myself due to my lack of money so, depending on who will play, I'm going to pre-order it
