No you can only stream to a Chromecast from a laptop,phone,or tablet.
The Chromecast app is the remote control for it.There is the Fire TV stick a similar product that has a real remote control.
If you want something stand alone that can play local files get a Raspberry Pi or a mini PC etc.Posted 2 months ago # -
Either Youtube's latest HTML5 player is crap or the guys at Linux Mint really screwed something up on their Firefox build.
Any video higher the 720P skips badly but if I use chrome or if I force FF to use flash no problems even with ultra HD.

Well my phone is starting to not work.
There was a sale 3 days ago. I could have just replace my s5 for an s6 just for $200 (all I needed to do was pay the rest of my contract off).
And now they're $350.
