Do you by any chance sell run a computer repair shop?

While in college I did repair computers and other electronics on the side to make extra money.

  2. So earlier this month, I watched Microsoft's event which featured new devices like the Lumia 950 smartphone and the Surface Book laplet. They are very interesting with tons of great specs. What do you guys think of its new stuff?

  3. I'm interested in the Lumia 950. Hopefully my carrier T-Mobile, will have it available after release.

T-mobile seems to be trying to not carry Windows phones. They barely promote and stock them. That said, if you do manage to get one they are seriously bang for your buck.

    Looks great, costs extremely much.

  6. For +/- 200$ more it greatly outperforms the macbook pro tho.

Yeah it kinda sucks, but like you said. The prices are nice. So I can definitely afford one.

  8. Well I managed to crack my ssg 5 screen.

    I hate everything.

On the bright side only the top is cracked so it doesn't really make a huge difference.

  9. You should have bought a Lumia or Kyocera.

  11. are the Roku and other similar gadgets worth it?

in the near future I'd like to have a gadget dedicated to be hooked to my telly, so that I can watch animoos and movies, but often wonder if it'll be better to buy a mini pc like an asus chromebox (or similar, thats just an example) and have a bit more of a multiuse gadget

can you even load and save crap on the Roku and such?

Just get Chromecast/Amazon FireTV, they're like $35. They run on Android so you can hack them and get free streaming services.

  14. Do you upload and save stuffs in them or is it just streaming?

  15. They can only play streams as they have very little local storage.
There are hacks to get them to play files off a home network server.

  16. hmmm, so given that I keep my animoos and movies in external drives, which would be a best option?

I'm sure I've asked this same thing every year or so, or at least since I learned about hdmi and I started hooking my laptop to the telly

  17. get a HTCP if you got a bit more money to spend.
I suggest building one yourself as most pre-builds don't support 10-bit chinese cartoons all that well. Horrible subs luckily doesn't use the 10bit encoding so those are always playable.

  18. A lot of HDTVs have USB slots and can accept an external hard drive...

A Raspberry Pi V2 and Openelec might be a good solution.
Setting one up is pretty easy.

Unlike hacking a Chromecast or FireTV there is zero risk of bricking it.
