It's not about the music, it's about Taeyeon's gloriousness.
Either way, knowing that the Intel I have in my current rig right now is endorsed by a bunch of tramps singing shitty pop songs makes my skin crawl. Uuuuuurrrrrfffhhhhh....

AMD can't compete with Intel in terms of power.
That being true

it's because high-end modern CPUs are far more than the average gamer needs. Even a mid-range CPU (like AMD's most powerful CPUs) is easily enough.
This hit the nail on the head.
I'm fine gaming with a Athlon II i just want a better gpu one day.

will.i.am recently joined Intel as "Creative Director" too.

why do they need such people?

Unless AMD can really provide a decent "enthusiast" class CPU, I doubt that I would move to the other side any time soon... since the successor to the current range of Phenom IIs are only goind to be replaced by a cpu that is essentially a ver. 2 of the K10 structure...
Which basically means I doubt that it can really offer "revolutionary” performance.
The only function that can sway my choice would be low power computing or an HTPC... because AMD can potentially offer a cheaper and as efficient alternative since it did buy ATi and thus should be able to make chips with decent graphics capabilities that would lead to lower power consumption like the 2nd generation Core i5 and i7. Which is practically what people would only need if they are just surfing the net...
I had fun putting mine together a few months ago. I invested a little extra so I could upgrade with a second 580 in a year or so and still be more than enough for anything I'd need.
Gigabyte X58-USB3 mobo
i7-950, 3.06 GHz
12 GB of OCZ memory
EVGA GTX 580
Other stuff, etc...
I'm not a big fan of AMD myself, though I was in the past. My experiences with the chips were less than stellar.
Does anyone own a HTPC?
If you want to buy a HTPC I'd say wait for the AMD APUs, great for HD playback and very power efficient.
I'm waiting for Intel to make the switch to 25nm for their SSDs, was supposed to happen in February.. (for the associated price drop btw, not for performance vs 34nm)
SSD + hard drive caddy so I can stick the SSD in my laptops optical bay slot would be pretty sexy..

True, but Intel is so fucking expensive it's not even funny while AMD has good cheap stuff.
Intel
$900 for i7 970
$1000 for i7 980X
AMD
$250 for Phenom II X6 1100T
$200 for Phenom II X6 1090T
I've never seen a game or anything that needs need the AMD 1100T or the Intel 980X

Agreed I use mostly AMD because it offers better bang for the buck.
I'd rather spend my cash on a decent video card and more memory as that's going to help you more then a faster CPU.
You'd be surprised what run and how well on a VIA nano or even an Atom with a good Nvidia or ATI card video card.
This is why Intel tried to kill Ion 2 as an Atom with Ion 2 will play most games better then a core I3 using an Intel GMA.
However... in terms of actual performance the 920 would perform better than the six core amd...
Anywhoo... if i had the money to spend on a 980x i would not really have other options because i would rather just use that to buy the fastest LGA 1356 proc when it comes out because i am planning to buy the fastest singke gpu solution available at that point in time anyway...
alright, this is not the right thread for something like this, but oh well, it's related.
I'm going to format this damn laptop for good, is anyone able to recommend a good antivirus + firewall combo? Preferably free!
Windows Firewall + Microsoft Security Essentials? If you're behind a router (laptop, wireles.. you usually are) is already secure enough imo (Unless you're using DMZ). Microsoft Security Essentials is actually better than it sounds.

get Linux or dual boot Linux and Windows and you don't have to worry about all that stuff.
alright, thanks :3 and no, I'm not going to use Linux
Yup, Windows Firewall plus MSE is good enough. Add in Windows Defender too if you want.

Why on Earth wuld you use MSE and Windows defender at the same time?
The only things you need are the Firewall, MSE and common sense
