making a film

basically i have a new idea for a film and would like to discuss it in hopes that your suggestions, questions or interrogation will help me develop my ideas and the eventual film better.

the film will hopefully make it into a film festival and the distro will be free.

needless to say, a special thanks will be in the credits of the eventual film.

so far i have 3 deaths i want to convey.
1. jumping off cliff or similar due to unrequited love/ one's love used him/her
2. i will kill those inconsiderate drivers! Bang(pretend finger == gun & point to car)! *truck smashes car instantaneously*
3. kotonoha jumps off building & falls head down style.

havent thought of how it would build up to those events.... would prolly draft smt up when the intro hits me d:

also, phrases i'd like to incorporate thus far: "content nor content"

symbol's i'd like to incorporate thus far: extra large, uniquely decorated umbrella."

Great that you have some scenes planned out, but doesn't sound like you have the story that contains the scenes planned out too much yet. Make sure you go about it in a way where the viewer actually cares about the characters and the situations.

Are you writing a script and gonna try and sell it or make the movie yourself?

@giascle: as of now, it's just a burst of things that come to my mind d: "content nor content" was just a phrase from a dream of mine that was rather prophecy like & really stuck, so i feel that by adding it would make it more me d:

think of it as OVAs... ya... i know i need to think of better ways to connect each episode better... tho for now, it'll just be that mysterious character. it's role will prolly be influencing the protagonist negatively. i'd also like to add a character foil... hmm... i shd to research jung's concepts more...

@Maize: great idea! it's gonna be tragic... so an addition of cautionary might go hand in hand.

hmm... i'm not sure if i should go silent type. or if i want to use BMGs... or if i want to make it completely audio-less..

First thing first get the story done, then worry about the storyboard, then think about special effects. I hope you aren't casting your friends and not hiring actual local actors, otherwise it won't turn out that great.

Also, make sure you/your friend can spell and fix a spelling error on the video after being told the word is spelled wrong even though the script is in his hands, right in front of him, spelled correctly, instead of leaving the error in.

And change the name or take out the obvious Eden of the East finger shooting scene.

the name's tentative. was thinking about how "2eden" sounds like "to eden" while it also implies that there are 2 heavens. d: but yes, eden of the east was an inspiration.

From the sounds of things it looks like you are either A: going after an unreachable goal for what you can currently do or B: not actually gonna make the film. I suggest setting your goal a little lower and make something with what you have without the need of a lot of money and special effects, on the lines of 2 guys working at a convenience store talking about Star Wars and a guy dying while trying to suck his own dick.

But that's just me.

lols, i tend to sounds like that d:

anyhoo, i've already gotten the video production teacher to lend me some sweet shoulder mount types d:

i prefer to rely on camera tricks as supposed to special effects. but if it comes down to it, green screen/ AE are not something i'm not familiar with d:

i'll tell ya first... it's gonna be low in budget... so improvisation is expected.

the biggest problem i foresee would be to get friends who are willing & good at acting d: well... thru past exp, after some retakes the acting gets better d:

Since I love horror, I created a ghost story.

4 best friends who just finished their high school and not continuing to college. A is a son of a fish shop owner, he usually help his pops selling the fish at the market. B works in a garage with his brother. C is doing part time jobs to gather money for college. D is delinquent who lives on his parents money.

One night when they were hanging out on a bridge (just a small 4 feet tall on top of a river), they saw a girl jumping from the bridge at the other end. A run across the bridge and look down. The girl is not coming out of the water (although they hear the splash sound). A jump down and save the girl to the shore (she fainted). During the saving, the girl grab A shoulder very hard. It leave a blue palm mark. The girl is taken to hospital. A, B, C, and D return home.

The next day, the dark mark on A shoulder is becoming black. A said to his dad that his shoulder and head are painful and cannot help him so he left alone in his home(dad and mom goes to market to sell fish - Well his dad said something like "why you got wet in the middle of the night?"). A is resting in his bed when suddenly he saw dark figure in the corner of his bed. He shout and the dark figure is gone. He return to sleep and in his sleep he met the girl he was saving telling him "sorry" over and over again. He woke up and it's already dusk. His shoulder and head are not painful anymore. He had dinner and went outside for a walk.

He visit C who attending a minimart and joke around for a while. Suddenly a gang of 5 people come in into the store and shoplift clearly while paying only for chewing gum. A tried to talk back and the gang "gang up" on him. Beaten up, C help him by faking about calling cops. They left. A is very angry and point his finger at the group while saying "Trash like you should die!". Suddenly a truck slip into the parking lot of the minimart and squash all the gang. A could not believe his eyes. He run home and tried to sleep <insert some scared guy thing here>.

Tomorrow morning, he go to market with his parents to sell the fish. He spaced out a lot thinking about yesterday event. His dad scold him due to the bruises he got from yesterday and spacing out. His mom also on the dad side. Suddenly out of nowhere there is a dark sound telling him to say "You two should shut up!". Suddenly both of them chocked on something. Blood start coming out of their mouth and they are dead. A lot of bloody flies is flying out of their mouth. He run back home, lock himself.

Several hours after that, police drop by but he said he doesn't know anything. After that B and C drop by to check on his condition. They all try to think what is happening. B suggesting to find out more about the girl since strange things start happening after A save the girl. They called D for help. C cannot come the next day because he got another part time job.

So A, B and D, try to get more information the next day. No luck. Day end.

The next day, A shoulder is starting to get painful again, the black part is getting bigger. He keep hearing things like a bug flying nearby and a sound "More souls......"

Well, to sum everything up. The ghost is in a form of a centipede. The black mark on his shoulder will grow into a giant centipede rotating A's body if he fail to get a soul everyday. I used "Ghost Hunt"'s Kudoku as the ghost but in form of a centipede. It's started by the governor (Ishihara, lol) and the girl is the governor son's girlfriend used to spread the curse. the governor family is unaffected by the curse so the best friends will need to find a way to stop everything. As long as the curse exist, the governor is granted with wealth and luck. If the carrier died, the curse will transfer to the last person in contact (touch) with the carrier.

Let's say A kill himself jump off a building (Kotonoha style) and the curse transfer to D.
They found out from the news that the girl A saved is related to the governor son’s (a big scoop for some gossip news). They meet the son, the son confess after pressed by D. D curse doesn’t work on the son, police come, all scram. D stress out.
D become crazy and kill anyone who oppose him. Stopped by B and C but B died in the process.

C doesn't want to die since he have a dream to become a veterinarian but just poor right now.
As a sole survivor, he take things personally to the governor.

The rest is yours to decide. Give him happy ending or bad ending?

I know that I had no talent in writing things like novel, but things like this story suddenly pop up in my mind while spacing out.

I'm sure there are a lot of gramatical errors. hehehehe.
I just feel happy if somebody read this rants.

the answer is obvious:
make a movie about an otaku, his life and how he visits sankaku every day etc.
to make it dramatic you can show how he fell for a 2D girl and how true his love is -just browse sankaku and 2ch and k-on articles for inspiration

I would seriously consider making that as a low budget dark comedy.
