I believe the channel is a
rip-offcopy of Donbooru. The channel's probably been around for something like two years, but I doubt anyone's been keeping track, with the possible exception of Artefact or some of the other mods.Posted 5 years ago # -

The post with ID #10 was posted on the 20th of August, 2008... so... yeah. Danboorus #1 dates to the 24th of May, 2005.

DOH!I wasn't sure if this would lead to some discussion of the channel or if op had some bigger life changing question so I left it.
And yeah, I think Danbooru was the first of those image boards. Sanchan can proudly say it was the first to incorporate features like autopaginator and most popular images.

I wasn't here back then, but Sankaku Channel was originally an imageboard al a futaba channel. Then had a upgrade to a danbooru-style imageboard.

It's a bit unfair to call it a rip-off when the authors of Danbooru and its various forks are gracious enough to maintain open source code bases, a common API, and freely encourage other sites to use them.
Our emphasis on accessibility and ease of use hopefully differentiate us more than enough in any case.
Also, I'm not sure but I believe Danbooru may be significantly older than that due to its various relaunches and updates.

Neither can search for only exluded tags; which isn't a big deal, but would be nice.

You can't really compare then since Sanchannel and Danbooru are working from completely different sets of rules and policies.
Also Danbooru does have the largest group of translators when it comes to manga and such.

Are you complaining that I haven't translated anything since becoming a regular forum member? Just because it's true, well... I do it on my own time and I'm not paid.

Wow, the knowledge I recieved is priceless, thank you all. Now I know that SanChan has been around longer than Danbooru. And totally realise I should have placed this in the request boards, sorry about that.
And also Odysseus, your so awesome because you do take time to translate.

With more greater search capacity and less restrictions, not to mention alot of the images don't get deleted over one's personal opinion. So it feels great to hang out here more often.
