  1. You know how they used to make samurai movies into westerns? (magnificent seven, fist full of dollars, etc.) the fact that Rueben Cogburn draws his gun from a swordsman's stance and and as if it is a sword makes me think of this. See how this would play out. Am i being retarded or would this be watchable?

As Mattie'sMami's tale begins in 1868, ChaneyTaiki is employed on the Riyo’ family farm in central Arkansas Matsushima. ChaneyTaiki is not adept as a farmhand, and MattieMami has only scorn for him, referring to him as "trash" "baka", and noting that her kind-hearted father, Frank, Hiroki only hired him out of pity. One day, Frank Ross Hiroki Riyo and Chaney Taiki go north to buy some horses. Chaney Taiki kills her father, robs the body of the remaining ryo and two gold pieces, and flees unpursued by the local townspeople who could care less into lawless Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) Hokkaido (where those loyal to Tokugawa reside) on his horse.

Hearing that ChaneyTaiki has joined an outlaw gang led by the infamous "Lucky" Ned Pepper Nobu, MattieMami wishes to track down the killer, and upon arriving at the town where her father died she looks for the toughest deputy MarshalSamurai in the district. That man turns out to be Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn "Ondori" Cojiro, and although he is an aging, one-eyed, overweight, short tempered, hard-drinking man, MattieMami is convinced that he has "grit" Meiyo, and that he is best suited for the job.

Playing on Cogburn's Cojiro's need for money, Mattie Mami persuades him to take on the job, insisting that, as part of the bargain, she accompany him with her father's gunsword . During their preparation a Texas Ranger Imperial gaurd named La Boeuf Saburo appears. He too is tracking ChaneyTaiki for killing a senator Daimyo and his dog in Texas Kyoto, and hopes for glory and a big cash reward. CogburnCojiro and La BoeufSaburo develop a dislike for each other, but after some haggling, they agree to join forces in the hunt. The two men attempt to leave MattieMami behind, but she proves more tenacious and resourceful than they had expected, and eventually she becomes an accepted member of their posse.

Together, but with very different motivations, the three ride into the wilderness to confront Ned Pepper's Nobu's gang and bring them to justice dead or alive. Along the way, they develop an appreciation for one another's methods.

Did you watch the "Making Of"? They thought they were making something amazing and deeply moving.

At least it was better was Showgirls.

  13. Well, I finally saw True Grit. It was alright, but it kind of dragged at points. As for making a samurai movie out of it...maybe.
