Tokyo Manga Ban discussion.

  1. Since this has obviously got Sankaku (and the rest of the manga/ anime fan base) in a steer, I though I'd start a thread about it.

Personally I think the manga/ anime industry was dying long before the ban, with fan service and repetitive, overdone stories plaguing anime and manga everywhere, the ban just hammered the finale nail in early, before the industry turned into pile of shit.
At least it died with some dignity left.

    What do you guys think?

    >implying there's anything wrong with fanservice
    >treating opinions as facts

Getting the "porn" stamp on a large amount of titles isn't exactly dignified. It's confirming that the labels the Western world has used to describe anime for decades are true, and doesn't do justice to the rest of the genre that gets to deal with the aftermath of this ban.

I didn't imply any of those things, theres nothing wrong with some fan service, but when it gets over used and becomes a selling point for a anime (like To love ru) over an actual plot, then maybe it should be treated as porn.
(Also this is sankaku, not 4chan.)

Its faping material and nothing more, not that theres anything wrong with that, but to call it a proper anime is a insult to the industry.
I was under the impression that people watched anime for deep plot/ character development, original story lines, or watched it because it took them to places that no other media could, or has.
    Not simply to fap too.

  9. If all an industry produces is crud, then yes it is crud.

The thing is it isn't all crud.

But this ban is the efforts of a homophobic fucktard.

I see no good coming from any of it.

I do agree the industry has seen a lot of trouble in recent years. Then again, I have seen a lot of digital industries experience a lot of trouble and all from the same forces.

Digital hasn't been kind to film, gaming, music, and print either, especially when they refuse to adapt.

The internet gave Japan access to the world, and now the world wants free access to anime and manga.

it is a (forced) decline of a beautiful art :(

    agreed.

i wonder if most of the group who keep on saying it's all the same watch more than a few of the animes each season. there has been plenty of variety each season, like there always was.

methinks people are just complaining because they like to complain.

to love ru isn't porn. it's soft core. it's no different from the moeblobs really. cute girls doing cute things. cute girls doing doki doki things.

as for the ban, it sucks. what is really wrong with fan service? there is and has always been plenty of variety in the end.

  13. I was getting bored and not watching much anime anyway, so I don't even care about the ban anymore. If the Japanese want to be retarded and kill off an entire industry, let them. They'll stop being so stupid eventually. Although I guess its not much different from hoping politicians/people anywhere stop being stupid suddenly. Just isn't going to happen...

Anyway I have years worth of anime that I still haven't watched that's all archived a million different places online, and considering my current rate of watching, I'll be set for a decade or more.

The anime hoard seems analogous to one of those emergency stashes that people prepare for a nuclear fallout shelter. How many minutes to midnight are we now on the Ishihara doomsday clock?

I'd still like to put Ishihara in a burlap bag and drag him behind a truck though a cactus patch.

Well by the time the supply dries up most people, like me, probably just wont care anymore either way and we'll get on with our lives, unlike those stuck in a fallout shelter. Rather than radiation, we'll just be exposed to more and more stupidity I'd wager. Both are pretty harmful, as we've all seen.
