How do you take this?

  1. I feel offend by this although I don't know if that's because I'm more of an anime/manga fan than an american comic fan. I do know manga titles that should be drawn by people with better skills but that's not all manga titles. So Crew on Sankaku what's your take on it?

  3. Well, covers like 20% of Deviantartists ^___^u

I just wonder the "limited grasp of human expression and emotion" part which to me doesn't make ANY sense...

Edit: they should really invent a mechanical pencil that loads itself automatically...sigh

His style isn't even conclusive of most Western art styles.
And why would you want to kill him?

    You so crazy.

  11. I don't know if things have changed but I remember American comics having a lot of dialogue on one page and they always strive for realism (some of it pretty, some of it not so much). Another things is in the long run I found buying manga to be cheaper than buying issues of American comics on a daily basis. The newest thing that I bought that files under the American category has to be Madam Mirage but I just love Kenneth's art and just had to have it.

  14. As a pesky teenager I thought manga would be the utmost of comic art...However parallel to my growing interest in Asian comics my general sense for comic art slowly widened...

Though I still prefer the Asian depiction of comic art I've developed a natural liking for the ( let's say for now ) 'American style' and several other Western 'styles' as well...

Preferences are important however forcing a hierarchy on something this varied is quite stupid...Every artist, every style and every nation has an own unique level of artistry, an adequate comparison could only be established if exact same levels, styles and qualities are being judged...

Which isn't the case by American and Asian comics...Both have strong and weak points, questionable and safe topics, outstanding&monumental represantatives and annoyingly forgettable wannabe's...
None is better or more worthy than the other...

  16. I started on American comics mostly marvel as a kid and discovered Japanese comics later on.

Both styles have their merits and are good in their own ways.

Americans would never do moe stuff like Lucky star but the Japanese never would make a character like Deadpool.

    - wonder what level of WTF!! would such a drawing reach =3

Japanese never would make a character like Deadpool.

True, they stick to the blind, badass, criminal slaughtering swordsman encompanied by a 12 year old blonde loli X3
