that in ancient rome the 25th of december was the day which daylight time lasted the longest among all the days in winter. Hence, it was the day dedicated to the cult of the god of the sun.
when christianism started spreading, it integrated the celebration of jesus' birthday with the preexisting celebration of the god of the sun.

not to mention there has been a miscalculation by Dionysius Exiguus concerning the year in which jesus was born - all the current text and proofs we have point that the christ was born in either 6 or 7 b.c.

nowadays the meaning of christmas may lie in the heart of the believers, but there's not a snowball chance in hell that day really has anything to do with the real jesus' birthday.

I think 25th was supposed to be Apollo's birthday. I think it's nice to make the holidays line up to make conversion easier and government paperwork less. It's not like the exact day MATTERS.

Funny thing is if it was 2 weeks earlier it would have been Succot and they wouldn't have needed the inn or manger cause they'd be carrying a tent or booth with them.

Hong Kong may be owned by China but it acts as it's own country and is nearly autonomous. Similar to Puerto Rico and the US.
