Sex is everywhere you look, are you tired of that?

I'm not saying that I'm tired of doing it, hell, I can't spend a week without doing it! But it just bothers me to see it everywhere, specially when that add it to animes, comics or movies just to try to make more money.

I don't think his problem is that he hates sex, but rather that there is overexposure. To which I can actually agree to some extent, when looking at Anime. I'm one of the few who tends to get annoyed by excessive fanservice and stuff like the current sex boom in anime.

Sex sells (and it's not hard to see why), and that is exactly why it is used so often to promote movies, games, anime etc. And to be honest, I don't really mind sex on its own. And if we're talking about anime like queen's blade (best refered to as hentai), then to be honest, it is to be expected (and those of us who have no interest in it can just skip it).

But there are quite a few instances when the sex and/or fan service simply don't serve any purpose, other than to promote the products. I'm sure quite a few would welcome this, but I for one would rather see less of this blatant fanservice in quite a few anime series, which are otherwise absolutely solid series.

My stance on sex in anime, games and movies is this: If the product revolves around sex to some extent, it's fine. If it's functional, then I welcome it. If it's just there to get more people to watch/play it, then it should be left out.

As for my definition for functional: It's important for the story, but isn't overabused. For instance, an anime/movie/tv series/game which includes sex practically every episode is one which I would consider revolving around sex (and consequently, probably ignore).

In the end however, it's all a matter of opinion. Some love their fanservice, sex in movies, sexy ads etc. Others just don't need and/or don't want it, or at least don't want to be bombarded by it every single hour of the day.

Coming with hyperboles like "if you don't like it, go to a place where it is illegal" is kind of ridiculous really. The world isn't that black and white, as I'm sure you are aware of.

  5. i dislike the emphasis on sex by most media. but that's because real people are really ugly.

anime/manga is fine. i sorta expect there to be a little fan service in the anime i watch - don't mind if there isn't of course + it depends on the genre and etc. the extreme ones, i just overlook or watch once in a while.

  7. This thread has reminded me of the scene in Robotech where the zentradi ambassador comes aboard the SDF-1 and sees the billboard. He then proceeds to ask

    "what is that"

the guy escorting him can't answer and says something along the lines of it's comlicated.

    the zentradi ambassador says

"Ah a military secret no doubt"

it was just a woman ina bikini on a billboard.

But anyways i don;t really care either way.

Couldn't agree more with you! Sometimes there are animes that look like they could be fun to watch...untill they start with the unnecesary fanservice.

  11. Greetings ~

Many of you - "know" - not to do this... (however) - (for those who have forgotten) a reminder...

This has been mentioned several times already and the purpose for mentioning it is because - it is not to be done.

This will be the last time.

No singular image postings to render a response.

    ALL have (now) been advised.

    Respects!

  13. I totally don't know.

Where can I read the basis and relevance for such rule? I can't think of it having any harm.

    =====

Yes, its been mentioned by Artefact himself, that it not be done.

I believe its to limit the images being used without comments attached.

I got out of hand at one time, was abused, so it is not conducive (or advised) that it be done, and add to the fact the bannings have been placed because of it.

hint hint: reason I mentioned it, but, like I said, this is the last time.

    On Topic ~

I personally don't mind the sexual innuendo nor the fan service.

The fan service (appears) to happen because of an action which a character does, or the way the scene is placed.

    In all actuality..

It has slowly been placed since way-back times... being the 70's, the time of the sexual revolution, so its been a staple since then, and I don't really see it going away anytime soon.

Unless, its been censored in some manner (to which many people) will (then) complain about it being censored.

So, in reality, no one is happy either way.

    My question is this:

If the OP, lives in a country where there are ads of a sexual nature which appear, then why the issue?

I have resided in Germany (the 90's) where they show such adverts on Tv and in public with late night soft-porn being shown.

I will not assume (nor) will place that everyone agrees with this thought.

I for one, considering my age group (50+), would be considered a rarity because of my open mindedness concerning this issue, and I am not screaming "foul" over it nor am I offended.

~ and being a parent myself, I have no problem in watching anything suggestive along with my son, because eventually (its going to happen) while watching Tv or a movie.

I would think that it (may) start a conversation of some type, or lead to a question and answer session.

    Which I would welcome.

Because many parents (not all) would rather sign a piece of paper (for sex education) and avoid talking about a subject that is uncomfortable. This is something I disagree with and besides its not the 50's/60's, times have changed.

To me, its all dependent on how (both) parties handle the scene or the situation once it happens.

  15. This reminds me of when I was 13, and I watched the movie "Hostel" with my dad. We sort of have a tradition of watching scary movies together whenever one comes out, since my mom and brother don't like them.

The first third of the movie was filled with strippers and nudity. He told me to cover my eyes with his jacket.

    Awkward...

    1. Yes, its not directed in any one person, It's just becoming noticeable more and more.

Sooner or later it will end up in the SPAM filter, then what? Complaints that they have been caught by it or their posts don't show up.

I am *just* trying to avoid the inevitable and save everyone some grief.

    2. HAHAHAHA! YOU didn't know?

MOST here already knew this... but I guess with the influx of new members, most wouldn't know.

Yes, I do have a son, and why I am so open-minded about allot of issues, regardless of what many (may think and assume) I am very open-minded, and more importantly hardly - (I don't want to use word - "never") - judge anyone because of their thoughts or beliefs.

    3. Yes. This has (always) been a pet-peeve of mine personally.
I hear of these parents talking about how there is no communication and how their kids learn all the sexual stuff from friends and outside sources, without talking/consulting them.

~ and who do they place blame on? - on the kids and those outside sources.

If they only spoke more openly about those issues, accept the opinion of what their children/teens/young adults thought, then I think it would generate more communication between them and also prevent that generational *gap* that is used as a constant excuse.

Its part of responsibility of being a parent to know and try to understand their kids while they grow through the (important) years.

Yes, privacy, and wanting to know on ones own is clear, as well as the independence issue, and I understand it, after all I was young once myself.

I suppose you have extra time for your kid. Or rather, you MAKE some time for your kid. Parents these days generally don't bother doing that and leave everything to the government and law.

  20. Agree totally.

Sex is a spice, a sweeterner. But it seems like it's used too much.

Too much salt ruins a flavour too much sugar ruins a flavour. You can put too much of anything into something and ruin it.

Been watching Yosuga no Sora, and trying to get past the spicy sequences, but ep 11 might have ruined it for me. Seems to have ruined it for my buddy who watches a lot of anime with me. I mean, two ordinary guys will have thresholds of how much porn is possible when watched together.
Most guys when they watch porn, usually like to end the viewin jacking off. Not surprisingly, most guys thus don't really want to watch porn together.

Yes we understand, Sora loves her brother, a lot, too much even. but he gets fucked more times in ep 11 than he does in the previous whole series. He gets sucked off too. 11 is just one long sex scene with a few moments of non sex to make it so it clear he does her several times.
Most guys don't fuck their girl friends as often as Sora gets fucked within the span of two days.

Someone needs to really get the people in manga and anime to seriously lay off the excessive sums of sex. It's almost as bad as when XXX porn became a legal video rental in Canada, and within a year every store had an adult rental section where you could watch stuff like 2 solid hours of money shots in any fashion possible. And it totally ruined the thrill of actually seeing it on rare occasions.

I recall watching the TV show Regenesis. A great show with a twist on the CSI like drama. It was all about bioterrorism and bio accidents. And every show it seemed like someone was caught fucking. It was annoying.

A great joke simply can't be told indefinitely.
Zombie man isn't the only one complaining.
