thing is... PR and the delusion that a sizable percentage of their customers would shitstorm has sometimes proven to be almost as effective of a censorship tool as law when it comes to obscene media.

Everyone is going to be pissed if Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece gets canned because of this banned.
Remember this banned covers sex, violence, suicide, and criminal behavior. All three of the major anime/manga has violence and criminal behavior.Posted 5 years ago # -
I'm trying to think of a single anime that doesn't feature any 'criminal behaviour'...
Would Aria even qualify?

Character is a young girl, so everything must be completely chaste.

some copypasta i read somewhere
>- This is a Tokyo ordinance bill, so while it is not a national legislation, it will still have a profound impact because all publishers and anime companies are centered in Tokyo.
>- This is not a ban, but it penalizes any publisher and producer of material that Tokyo considers to be harmful to minors. Unlike in the US, retails have less responsibility, i.e. if a book they sell is marketed as a general audience by the publisher, but Tokyo deems it to be harmful, then it is the publisher’s responsibility to recall all the books.
>- Tokyo already has the power to designate anything that is too sexually stimulating for minors OR too sadistic for minors OR too likely to cause criminal acts among minors OR cause suicide among minors as “harmful material”, and force such material to be treated as adult only material.
>- This bill does not target simple nudity and panties showing up on the screen, but will make it more difficult to conduct social commentary on difficult issues of sex and relationships since fictional material must adhere to real life criminal codes AND not celebrate relationships between close relatives who can’t marry in real life, or their material may be considered harmful to minors.
>- This bill does not target “hentai” (which is a term we don’t even use in Japan). All material already marketed as adults only is exempt, since those titles are considered to be inaccessible to minors

I should feel so dumb.
(Not targeted at you GTR, just the person who wrote that.)

Strike Witches? They do plenty of illegal things, not the least of which would be disobeying direct orders.

disobeying orders too can be considered a criminal behavior... so maybe it should count as "criminal behavior" under new tokyo law
Article 90 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) makes it a crime for a military member to WILLFULLY disobey a superior commissioned officer. Article 91 makes it a crime to WILLFULLY disobey a superior Noncommissioned or Warrant Officer. Article 92 makes it a crime to disobey any lawful order (the disobedience does not have to be "willful" under this article).
In fact, under Article 90, during times of war, a military member who willfully disobeys a superior commissioned officer can be sentenced to death.

I'm sure that the Japanese military also has a law against disobeying orders, dude.

In the end, it might reeeeeeeeally suck for a lot of you teens eh.
I mean, if they limit it to adults only and all that, well it won't harm us adults, we will just need to get our school girls in school girl uniforms, mangas and anime fix in the same stores we buy our adult novelties from.
Might make the adult industry insanely happy for all that matter possibly.
It will wreck a lot of peoples lives, it might not make it go away.
I'm sure the people that make manga and anime won't care who publishes/sells the product as long as the work is there and the pay checks arrive.Posted 5 years ago #
