attractive otaku girls. . .

Neko, you'd be surprised how common that is. Going past the gender and looking at the couple's dynamic is what makes them so interesting to ship.

Also, because being biased on boobs or penises is lame. They're both awesome in their own right.

Don't make me slap you ribbons. *slaps* oops. I slapped the chicken instead.

  3. Maybe I should speak from my experience here.

I joined an anime interest club in my uni and guess what? About half were females - initially. Most of the females are average looking, but then again, the guys aren't good looking either. I was a blooming anime fan then so I always thought that the club should consist mostly of guys.

Among the females, there are two attractive female veteran cosplayers. Unfortunately, they rarely appear for meetings and I only see them in cosplay events. Other female members also gradually stopped coming for club meetings. After a few months into the club, I can understand why.

Most of the male otakus just simply too absorbed in playing WS cards and anime games to care about other members. My club president is one such example. Whenever I go to club meetings, the first thing he does is play WS cards all day and don't care a shit about the club. Other male members are too absorbed in touhou or gundam and live in their own universe. The poor secretary, which is a female, have to take care of almost all the events.

I can only conclude that most female otakus will still mix with other male otakus provided they still they can care about other fellow human beings.

Most of the female otaku I've known IRL have been neurotic messes. Cute, but with issues up the wazoo.

I've had a similar experience with a girl in the local fighting game scene. She organized some tournaments, sold cute stickers and stuff. But she completely left the scene in a huff after nobody bothered to strike up a conversation with her at an event.

It seemed kind of ridiculous, but she was still serious about it. I mean, you go to a tournament to play games, and you happen to talk about shit while playing games, but no one comes there just to talk with people.

Some gamer guys are antisocial, and have trouble connecting with people in ways other than through their hobby. The split between people who just wanna game, and those who want to hang out and organize events isn't necessarily a gender one, either.

I figured, but there's still the underlying issue of social interaction and organisation within gaming, anime, etc. communities.

Edit: maybe some insight from Motaku?

    they're still ugly tho'. ;]

and quite a few o. girls tend to be very wary of the guys themselves.

it's always been this way; we are nerds btw.

well, these days the term nerd has been diluted. it's cool to be a nerd now. sigh..

these days i differentiate myself from the nerd group and just consider myself ruggedly handsome. the lengths one has to take to separate themselves from others in this globalised society of ours. sigh..

all you gotta do is create something like SanCom forums irl. i.e. free for all.

there's the bastardly problem of time and space irl - one can only communicate and interact with another at a certain point in t and s. groups will generally split into smaller subunits so as to maximise their 'social benefits'. after which, our biases takes over and people tend to form relationships with people that they are more 'comfortable' with.

SC forums has no real barriers. you are simultaneously communicating with pretty much the whole community which is why there is no real minority group here.

the culture may be such that quite a number of women stay away from here but the ones that do stay are treated as true members. because the forum is shaped such that the community doesn't split into smaller groups in the first place.

So, according to a lot of people in this furum, there is not such thing as a attractive otaku girl... if a girl is a anime fan, she is ugly...whats up with that?

You have been misinformated. They do exist.

I don't think nerds are ugly. We just don't take time to invest in our personal grooming.

Yeah, like your sister. Tell her I won't be talking to her for awhile.

    *nods in agreement*
I like the animesuki forums, but there was something peculiar I noticed there. Because everything is divided into sub forums, it's really easy to get caught up in a specific group and never get out of it. I for instance hang around the Nanoha sub forum exclusively. I actually forgot there were other sub-forums and a few hundred other members on the site. Then I was like, whoa! They talk about current shows, and a bunch of other things I'd never even bothered checking out. After I discovered this bigger world, I went back to the Nanoha sub forums, 'cause there ain't nothin' I need more than my Nanoha fix.

Then I seems to have missed something.

I'm nearly the only guy here in my area that is watching Anime. Guess finding a guy would be hard. So find a girl that watching Anime or being Otaku is even more difficult.
