This method of execution is still practiced in certain countries, notably Iran, where it is used to punish adulterers and other criminals. Before you guys go bashing Islam, remember stoning isn't something exclusive to a religion. Iran would stone people if it were a Muslum country or not. Other countries/religions used to/still practiced stoning.

I'm sort of mixed in your post as while stoning historically isn't exclusive to a certain religion,
the fact is that the punishment of stoning is only officially adopted by Islamic states
Now should we use this to bash Islam?
Of course not, rather we should bash conservative Islam as it is promoted by such.

If those same countries were instead Christian, they would still have a culture that encourages extremism and corruption, and they would still treat women like shit.
To be honest any religiously driven country will end up taking away some sort of freedom, and no I am not a atheist :X
Being Muslim doesn't automaticly mean stoning is a part of your beliefs. Stoning wasn't always a punishment in Iran, and not all Islamic countries practice it.
It just irks me when people judge a whole group on the actions of a few.

Good news! We're judging a whole group by the words and actions of a very substantial proportion! Maybe even the majority!
Just remember that these things aren't one-off incidents committed by a few idiots. The people stoning women to death aren't Muslim versions of the Wesboro Baptist Church. These acts are supported by millions of people. Just look at Palestine: the party that wants a second Holocaust isn't some fringe group as many Westerners assume; no, they're the most popular party in Gaza.
Or look at Iran. Ahmadinejad may or may not have legitimately won the last election, but he certainly has massive support. This is a man who wants to wipe Israel off the map, and it's under his regime that lolis are executed because they were raped. Tens of millions of Iranians clearly approve of this and want it to continue; if they didn't, the more moderate candidate would have got 99% of the vote.

Depends; this statement essentially erases the conflict between Islam and Christianity meaning that there would be no decline of Pan-turkic Arabia if it was a Christian entity to begin with.

As for my statement, is it really wrong to say that stoning as a lawful punishment is generally exclusive to Islamic states in part due to conservative Islam?

Nope. They would have evolved into a separate sect of Christianity, and would still have had a conflict. Religion's an excuse, not a cause.
The cause is the human nature. No other animal kills one of their kind just for fun.

I doesn't matter if they had conflict; it would be different than that of a Islamic Ottoman Empire,
not to mention there are several factors that would change - sharing of information, shifting of populations, overall willingness to communicate that would effect Arabia differently
- If the Ottomans didn't become weak, they wouldn't be overpowered by the western counterparts, if the western nations didn't colonize and establish pro-west rulers who were essentially authoritarians then Islam wouldn't have been politicized. Religion could have completely made the difference in how things are today.
Note that I'm not blaming Islam and Islam alone.
just so y'all know the United Nations General Assembley has removed being gay from the list of things you can not execute someone for. It past with wide support from arab, carribean, and african countries. SO watch out for those traps they could get you killed.
