  1. Not saying I'm one, but it would be nice if 'someone' can procure a copy of that book to share here :) Just saying.

Row over Amazon sales of paedophile advice guide

The guide is being sold by online retailer Amazon for the Kindle e-reader

A self-published guide giving advice to paedophiles that is for sale through online retailer Amazon is stirring up controversy on the internet, with some threatening to boycott the website.

The availability of the Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover's Code of Conduct has led to questions over scrutiny on the site.

Amazon allows authors to submit their own books and shares revenue with them.

Amazon said it did not promote criminal acts, but also avoided censorship.

Before authors are able to sell a work on the site, they are asked to read a set of guidelines, which bans offensive materials.

But Amazon does not specifically state on its website what material it deems offensive, instead saying "probably what you would expect".

Responding to the criticism, it said in a statement: "Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable.

    More here. Sauce

    Thoughts/feedback?

  2. Good for Amazon. I may not agree with the content of the book, but that doesn't mean I have some self-centered right to stop Amazon from selling it to anyone else.

Edit: Ne'er mind. Seems like they've taken down the page for it.

  3. I agree with their stance as knowledge is neither good nor evil, only it what manner it is utilized. Just as how the anarchist's cookbook is totally legal until you start to impliment it's instructions.

Come on, this is Amazon we're talking about. You know, the same amazon who took rapelay and presumably a whole bunch of other eroge off the market because of unassociated pressure groups? The same Amazon whose first result for 'homosexuality' is 'A Parent's Guide to Preventing Homosexuality'.

I mean, come the fuck on. Who has faith in Amazon anymore? I started boycotting them around 2008.

  10. Its funny if you look through some of the stuff for sale on amazon.com/jp and then you see something little like this that is causing a big uproar here in America. But I guess that is one of the "funny" differences between Japan and America. ^_^

And its hilarious how everyone on the original page was like; OMG I HATE AMAZON NOW IM CANcELING MY ORDER etc... you know they'll be back tomorrow.

Isn't Kodomo no Jikan considered a national treasure of Japan or something? Meh, my guess is the irrelevant pressure groups just haven't been 'shown' it yet, or they see other things as a bigger 'threat' to their narrow world-view.

  13. Fuck it's Amazon, also known as private property. When are you dumb fucks going to figure it out.

They are only interested in revenue, not the precious feelings of people no one wants. They chose to save more cash than they would gain from a fucking book.
    Get the fuck over it.

  15. That;s cool. They also sell books written by old women lusting after young boys which try to pass themselves off as art because they have pictures but really are mostly a creepy wall of text that tries to make a case that 40+ year old women should have some kind of legal and inalieable right to molest 12 year olds. this isnt too far from the legal reality right now anyway so i dont know where i was going with this. Thanks, SankakuComplex.com forums, for reading my post.

Exactly. And I choose to boycott their private property in the same way that I boycott anything from Orson Scott Card.
