With the recent announcement of the Queen’s Blade anime, I thought it timely to have a look at the actual game books (especially with regard to their alluring art). The books actually have their roots in D&D and similar, and circuitously found their way from the western tabletop RPG scene to their current popularity as collectible ecchi artbooks.
Singer Gackt has leant his voice to a new vocaloid, dubbed Gackpoid, and Berserk creator Kentaro Miura has apparently deigned to provide him with the design for the avatar, for free, visible above – quite a departure from his usual style, I’m sure you’ll agree.
You can hear samples of the synthetic crooning on the official site. The software is due on the 25th of July, at a cost of some ¥18,900. It does not look as if this avatar will readily lend itself to an appealing incarnation as a nendoroid… Via ITmedia.

Sasuke-chan learns the truth about Itachi. Spotted this rather strange but undeniably well executed Naruto/Yotsuba-to parody manga, which I took the liberty of translating; see below for the whole thing, Japanese original included as well. Via here.
Konjiki no Gash creator 雷句誠 / Makoto Raiku brings a series of scandalous allegations regarding the conduct of his editors to light, as if his last were not severe enough. Shonen Sunday magazine and publisher Shogakukan, coincidentally also in trouble with the ending of one of their major series, and also having abused a somewhat charismatic lady mangaka, seems set to have its reputation utterly destroyed. Inuyasha is finally set to draw to a close after 11 years of serialisation, it has been announced in the latest instalment, with the next chapter, 558, bringing the story to an end. Creator 高橋留美 / Rumiko Takahashi is said to be planning a prompt start to a new work, to be announced soon, rather than taking the opportunity for a break. Apparently, there are also some concerns over what effect this will have on Shonen Sunday, as Inuyasha was a major title for them.
Hopefully, the series is ended in an appropriate fashion, although with 11 years and 53 volumes it seems unlikely that this was rushed. Via AnimeAnime.

Ero-maid comedy これが私の御主人様 / Kore ga Watashi no Goshujin-sama, “He Is My Master”, looks set to become a dead franchise, after a new volume was imminent, with the news that the creators, husband and wife team Mattsu (writer) and Asu Tsubaki (art), can no longer stand to work together, and have divorced. However, Mattsu then drops this bombshell on 2ch:
“It may be that I’ll have to find an artist for Kore ga Watashi no Goshujin-sama and Maid wo Nerae.
I wonder if Ishikei would do it?”
He goes on to talk about getting 石恵 / Ishikei in a little more, so it does sound like he is quite interested in the possibility. However, this is speculative and one sided, with no word from Ishikei, so it is no more than an incredibly interesting possibility at present. 2ch log here, reproduced below.
Infuriated over publisher Shogakukan having managed to lose an important original manuscript, 金色のガッシュ / Konjiki no Gash (also “Zatch Bell”) mangaka 雷句誠 / Makoto Raiku has demanded compensation to the tune of ¥3,300,000.
Apparently, after the manga finished serialisation, the publisher returned the orginal manuscripts, but some colour pages were missing; the author is basing his claim on the artistic value of the lost pages. Shogakukan for their part have made the terse statement “We shall deal with the petition properly as soon as it is received”.
