Another interesting crossover parody manga – this time Haruhi and Golgo 13 converge, in a tale of school assassins and bloodthirsty rivalry. Will the SOS-dan survive Haruhi’s gun toting rampage?

Though it would appear to be a dead letter for the time being, the Japanese government’s attempted encroachment on artistic freedom of expression has not been forgotten; the campaign opposing criminalisation of artistic depictions of sexual activity involving younger participants (hereafter, delicious cake) has been gathering momentum, and can now boast a substantial list of names affirming their support for the cause, in the form of a lengthy petition.

The level of anticipation and furious interest centred on 鳴子ハナハル / Naruko Hanaharu’s (also Naruco Hanaharu – and he is assuredly a man despite the -ko) latest adult manga, 少女マテリアル / Shoujo Material, has perhaps been unprecedented; it is a little hard to fathom how such attention has come to focus on a mangaka whose works had previously been relatively restricted in availability, however high quality they were.

Coming upon much more 春画 / shunga, the Japansese erotic art of antiquity prone to make the contemporary stuff look tame, I though it time to make a few galleries of them, in addition to the earlier gallery. I should furnish you with a warning before you proceed – some of these images frankly put /d/ to shame in strangeness, and I reproduce uncritically as historical art illustrations which might otherwise be considered in less than exemplary taste.
I guess mother Russia really took it in that ass in that conflict! LOL!... More
As a matter of fact, Japanese society for the most part was very liberal all along. The Westernization period was the only exception after the induction of Western values.... More
This manga, published in 1982 as “My Computer God – The Story of Bill Gates” (マイコンの神さま ビル・ゲイツ物語), in KoroKoro Comic, is a fascinating piece of history, and quite amusing to boot. As a piece of history, it harkens back to a time when Bill Gates was the Larry Page or Sergey Brin of his day, a dynamic entrepreneur in charge of an up and coming venture company, a far cry from the monolithic titan of corporate America Microsoft would later become. The entire story is translated below.
bill gates has donated more than 50 billion dollars to charity, more than anyone else in the world, and you call him evil.... yeah, he sounds like the pinnacle of evil, dont he, what with... More

An iconic artist whose illustrations and manga unusually really only form a fraction of his overall works is うるし原 智志 / Satoshi Urushihara (sometimes given as 漆原智志). He has had a long and illustrious career as an animator and character designer for anime, and these achievements overshadow (probably justifiably) his other works; here, the focus is on his own illustrative works however.
He also seems to have a thing for red hair as well.... More
I've affectionately nicknamed Satoshi Urushihara "The Cuntmaster". Whenever I see a work with his distinctive style and perfectly-rendered female genitalia, I can't help but exclaim "the Cuntmaster strikes again!"... More
モエマックス / Moe X magazine is earnestly soliciting customers for this white school mizugi, at the rather steep price point of ¥6,800-¥9,800 – I seem to remember seeing similar offered for ¥399, though not in white, and not including any famous illustrator’s (うるし原智志 / Satoshi Urushihara) work for the sake of pretext.
They are offering them in both adult and elementary school sizes, in case you happen to be one of Moe X’s many elementary school girl readers. Comes complete with unusably good cake emblazoned towel.
I am not entirely sure what the intended use for this item is… Nor is NekoAreBlog.
White mizugi are fail. But maybe one can color them, and then put one's favourite character name on it? And dress the life-size statuette of that character with it? And then never leave the house... More

A system of digital comic distribution has been announced for WiiWare, and renowned mangaka 松本零士 / Leiji Matsumoto (or Reiji Matsumoto, famed author of such classics as Space Battleship Yamato and Galaxy Express 999) will provide an original title to get the ball rolling.

The mangaka defunct rag WaiWai branded a paedophile, over his using a tastefully dressed girl character (above) to illustrate an official manga version of an otherwise dry defence white paper, has shot back at Mainichi, demanding a public apology, only to be told that he can expect an under the table settlement, but under no circumstances must he write about it on his blog.
でこくーる / decocool wrote about it on his blog, revealing the details of the interchange in full.
Probably one of the very best CG artists around, 村上水軍の館 / Murakami Suigun has been providing superb digital illustrations for many years now, and has accrued much fame and fortune as a result. Since many others have examined his eminently wallpaper suitable illustrations in detail, I shall focus on his more warped erotic and fetishistic illustrations, not a displeasing prospect in the slightest I must admit.
Hatsune Miku creator KEI’s eagerly awaited upcoming artbook KEI画廊 / KEI Garou (due today in fact) has unfortunately been delayed – release will shift to the last third of July; announcing a delay on the day before release seems to suggest some grievous error, but just what is the cause is not revealed – KEI offers his apologies with a commemorative illustration on his homepage
A famous and hugely prolific mangaka whose works I have been familiar for many years now is 師走の翁 / Shiwasu no Okina. His works are notably original, if at times a little hard to understand story wise, and it is particularly interesting to see such original works still focussing on relatively mainstream themes.
