Firefox Famicon Emulator – FireNes

Firefox Famicon Emulator – FireNes

A Firefox based NES emulator is not something I would have considered a likely development, but it seems someone has gone to the trouble, so now you can play thousands of NES games from your browser.

“I-It’s not made for you or anything, OK!?” – slots and similar games can now be enjoyed with the added spice of tsundere moe, as gaming machine company Techno-Top is set to provide a Tsundere version of its “Tekichu” gaming/gambling machine. The machine’s voicing is providing by tsundere queen 釘宮理恵/Rie Kugimiya, a seiyuu who is not lacking in experience in these roles.

Disgaea 3 Digital Artbook Released

Disgaea 3 - Raspberyl / 魔界戦記ディスガイア3 ラズベリル

Just gone on sale on the Nippon Ichi webstore are some new Disgaea 3 goods, the most interesting of which is a new digital artbook, a CD for the PC and Mac, retailing at ¥4,000. It apparently contains some 700 illustrations, not just from the game but also from marketing materials, etc. No word on Etna, resolution or international orders…

Code Geass R2 DS Game

コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュR2/ Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Wallpaper

The new Code Geass R2 game for the Nintendo DS, コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュR2 盤上のギアス劇場 / Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Banjou no Geass Gekijou, looks set to bring a certain amount of novelty to the table; whilst being an adventure game spin-off of the sort which has earned a mixed reputation, it also incorporates a board game system and relationship building, along with a variety of minigames. See the screens over at Famitsu. Set for release in early August.

The chibified character designs look appealing enough, but the minigames on offer look rather bland. Still no blockbuster Geass game yet… Odd?

Another fine example of Chinese originality and quality game design; The King of Street (街頭拳皇) nevertheless seems strangely reminiscent of certain other games.

Corpse Carver was Erogame Otaku

Corpse Carver was Erogame Otaku

Takanori Hoshijima, who murdered his neighbour and hacked apart her remains to flush into the sewers, now has an even more odious mark against his name (for the mass media and politicians at least); a close acquaintance of his alleges he “had no interest in girls other than 2D ones” and that after moving to Tokyo he sunk into an obsessive fascination with adult games, such that he lost all interest in any other type of girl.

Soul Calibur IV to Have Strippable Characters

Soul Calibur IV to Have Strippable Characters ("Armour Battle Damage")

It seems one of the new additions to Soul Calibur IV will be the ability for characters to lose clothing (“armour”) as battle damage. The pictures and videos (below) seem unambiguous in showing a variety of characters, male and female, suffering clothing destruction to varying degrees.

Street Fighter IV New Characters Revealed

Street Fighter IV New Characters Revealed - Seth, evil scifi shiny cyborg CEO boss type.

Finally some substantive SF IV news; we have details on three new characters (with more apparently to come), release news (game is in final testing stages, announcement likely soon), and of course plenty of screens of the new characters.

The characters:

Rufus: giant American fat man type – can’t wait to see him in motion.

El Forte: Mexican lucha libre masked pro-wrestler type.

Seth: evil scifi shiny cyborg CEO boss type.

Nothing uneventful there then. And so on to look at Famitsu’s numerous screens. Now only to wait for the release details?

Adult Game Makers Face Mass Bankruptcy?

Adult Game Makers Face Mass Bankruptcy? Taichi Kiriyama

The recent political attacks on the adult game industry seem to have stirred up a hornet’s nest in defence of the eroge makers, but the makers themselves seem to other concerns, claiming their industry is in imminent danger of mass bankruptcy, not due to the depredations of populist politicians, but due to that most reviled nemesis of software developers everywhere, piracy.

PSP Upskirt Principal’s Train Spree Ended

PSP Upskirt Principal’s Train Spree Ended, image by Ore-teki

“I wanted to see ladies underwear”. A vice-principal who used a Sony PSP, modified to include a camera, to take upskirt photos of schoolgirls on a train has finally had his long running string of voyeuristic excesses brought to a close.

We hear that the deputy headmaster (59) of a Nagoya technical college was arrested for violating public nuisance laws aimed at preventing such covert photography, though it seems this arrest comes late in his career of serial voyeurism – he apparently was caught for same in 2001, but managed to get off with just a pay cut. No details on whether this is a Sony authorised PSP accessory.

Street Fighter IV for PS3, Xbox360, PC - Dhalsim

Some release details for the latest instalment in Capcom’s Street Fighter series have emerged, and in part they are extremely surprising. Famitsu confirms it will be a multiplatform release for the PS3, Xbox360 and, oddly enough, the PC. Details of the price and release date for each platform are unfortunately yet to be announced. The article also carries some details of a tawdry Hollywood cash in, which I will not bore you with.
