The official site for 侍道3 / Way of the Samurai 3 opened recently and the game revealed is an interesting one; it is due for a Japanese release on the PS3 in the autumn, though there is no word yet on an international release, though it seems likely enough. For those unfamiliar with the series, Way of the Samurai is a non-linear free roaming action game set in Tokugawa era Japan, with a focus on story and sword action. The previous games were both rather good.

The hugely popular Neon Genesis Evangelion Asuka/Rei rearing/kyouiku games have just received another iteration, under the title of 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン 綾波育成計画DS with アスカ補完計画 / Shinseiki Evangelion Ayanami Rearing Plan DS with Asuka Supplementary Plan, due for release on August 28th, starting out at ¥5,000.
It looks as though the game will follow the pattern of previous games closely, that is guiding Eva’s iconic female protagonists through their lives, but with the addition of new gameplay elements, new material and new endings, promising playability even for those having gone through the previous iterations of the title. The game will of course take advantage of the twin screen layout of the DS.
See the numerous screens at Famitsu.

Seeing this interesting collection of game music lifted off the boards, I couldn’t resist lifting it myself. There’s some good music selected, ranging from more modern game music to distinctly retro tunes, the emphasis is on battle music; hear (and see) for yourself below.

This is a bash the blocks style game where the objective is to knock poor Hatsune Miku’s clothes off, using a leak to bat the ball, naturally enough. It even has a Miku soundtrack, though perhaps more effort could have been invested in the CG.
It’s a 10mb download, just unzip and run. “Official” RapidShare type download here, or alternatively download from this server here. Game site is here, reaching me via here.
Hatsune Miku seems to be the target of increasing gaming attention lately… Not long before we see her get a full commercial game to herself, perhaps?

Tales fans, at least the few who own an Xbox360, can rejoice with the knowledge that Namco has officially announced the Japanese release as being August 7th, with an expected price of ¥7,800. The game has been designed with full internationalisation in mind (so forget about a Japanese dub), with an English language version set to follow shortly. No word on the PS3 release, of course.

The latest game in the Star Ocean series, スターオーシャン 4 THE LAST HOPE / Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope, will be an Xbox360 exclusive to be released in 2009, it has been announced.

Tech Arts 3d’s adult game 3Dカスタム少女 / 3D Custom Girl certainly allows you to create girls who bear more than just a passing resemblance to various characters, not least of which is the recreated Hatsune Miku visible below (somewhat H) – see here for a much more detailed breakdown of the game’s girl creation functionality.

The editorial staff of adult game magazine PC Angel neo have issued an official statement in response to the call for a ban on adult games, and as might be expected they are rather scathing of it, if in a rather polite and restrained way (though any other sort of statement would doubtless be to cast oil onto the flames).

The latest game in the popular stealth action franchise Tenchu is set to move to the Wii, abandoning the Playstation in something of a surprising move, and the game will herald a trilogy of new titles, it has been announced.

The release date of the recently announced and much anticpated Haruhi Wii dance game (in fact, the title is 涼宮ハルヒの激動, Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou – “The Excitement of Suzumiya Haruhi”) has been announced as the 27th of November, according to Famitsu. Some new screens are also visible in the scan below.

Famed seiyuu 釘宮理恵/Rie Kugimiya is set to voice one of the characters in Persona 4, perhaps a welcome break for her from voicing slot machines. She will voice Rise Kujikawa, an idol who returns from the big city to her hometown, the backwater country town setting of Persona 4.

A few items of news about this interesting looking eroge cum RPG, due July 17th, are apparent. Famitsu has some shots of the game system; the element circle system and leader skill system are covered a bit – looking promising as an SRPG. Also see the updated official site for more.
More interestingly, Dengeki provides some shots of the CG event scenes running on a large TV – they look fantastic. If only actual eroge ran at that resolution, maybe they would sell more (I can’t be the only one who doesn’t like looking at 800*600 on a 27 inch monitor). Lastly, AkibaBlog has some shots of the promotional antics in Akiba, though little actual new info
