It seems that unofficial confirmation of a Tales of the Abyss anime is forthcoming by way of a mention of the title in an anime producer’s portfolio of products worked on. Apparently the production staff has already been settled up to episode 7, so an official announcement can’t be that far away. Other details are still lacking. Moon Phase thinks this can serve as reliable confirmation, and Moon Phase certainly qualifies as a reliable source for such matters.
As an aside, the same source reveals the progress of a new Inuyasha title, although details on this are even scarcer.
I can’t help but be enthused by this news, since Tales of the Abyss probably ranks as my favourite console RPG; hopefully they will do it justice. Looking forward to seeing some more of Anise and Ion, and all the others…

“I’m boasting, but I’m a virgin, small, and have phimosis (and full phimosis at that)”. The ongoing efforts of the media to pin the blame for Akiba stabber Tomohiro Kato’s rampage on his otaku interests, as well as the efforts of 2ch to pin the blame on Toyota’s temp downsizing, have both taken a blow with the revelations about the man’s character emerging from a detailed dissection of the thousands of posts he made to various sites over the past year. They depict rather strongly a man obssessed with his own isolation and sexual insecurity.

The rather nice image above is of Konata and Kagami depicted as traditional Shinto deities Fujin (god of wind) and Raijin (god of lightning) – Konata is Fujin, wielding a bag from which the primal winds gust forth, Kagami is Raijin, ready to beat her drums to create thunder, and a traditional illustration of the pair is shown below; much less likely to inspire devotion in the modern world than the above, I’m sure you’ll agree. OVAs and films are in the bottom half. Clicking on the screens will take you to the appropriate homepage.

This gallery is comprised of the collected contents of several cosplay galleries I have come across recently; it may very well represent the pinnacle of cosplay. For some reason, Nagato seems particularly suited to cosplay, but the Deedlit cosplayer probably gets the prize…

New Type brings exclusive new details on the new Haruhi season, with the most notable development probably a new look Haruhi. The long haired Haruhi is the “vanished Haruhi”. See below for the first look at an early copy of New Type (not out yet). Read the rest of this entry »

Just as the To Love-Ru manga compilation edition got an H upgrade from the serialised edition, so will the DVD edition of the anime get improved ecchiness. The DVD is due July 25th, so we should not have too long to wait until the inevitable side-by-side comparisons. Some (quite tame) screens at Famitsu.

A popular regional cosplay event has been cancelled by a single complaint made by an old woman. “In a place for enjoying flowers for everyone from children to old people, what sort of a place is this for a big gathering of young people?” was the criticism offered.
