A new TV commercial for giant candy conglomerate Lotte’s new Acuo chewing gum is attracting attention amongst fans of 2D for its striking premise – the gum makes one’s breath so fresh that it transforms pedestrian, everyday Japanese women into 2D beauties such as Haruhi and Mikuru, or even a trio of stray cats into a harem of nekomimi Nagato.

A brand new television commercial for KyoAni’s massively anticipated K-ON!! sequel aired overnight, teasing anxious otaku with the welcome sight of some excellent quality art, feeling like an improvement over last year’s show yet lacking any radical art design changes.

Jun Maeda, a co-creator of legendary visual novel company Key (Air, Kanon, Clannad) and screen writer and composer for almost all of Key’s past games, was recently interviewed about his upcoming and highly anticipated Angel Beats! Anime.
Besides speaking about his first time experience with writing a screenplay for an anime, he went into much detail concerning the production of Key’s games, making for a rather fascinating interview, available translated below in full.

Service anime par excellence Ladies Versus Butlers! will be receiving a small tribute to its ecchi glory in the form of pantsu modeled after some worn by the show’s busty and not so busty cast.
Unfortunately, something seems to be lost in the transition to 3D in the cast of Selnia’s silk panties, but at least quasi-loli Mimina’s character print underwear had better results…

The ongoing Tokyo International Anime Fair 2010 began on Thursday, and as expected there is a generous amount of promotion of new anime series and movies due out later this year at the event.
Generous otaku armed with video cameras have done an excellent job of recording a plethora of trailers being shown in the Big Sight’s halls this weekend, viewable below:

The recent Nipponbashi Street Fest 2010 provided many Kansai-area otaku a chance to celebrate their true colors in Osaka’s own version of Akihabara, an opportunity that can sometimes be quite rare for those living out of reach of Tokyo.
The metallic masses of itasha were one of the most visible signs of otaku presence, and a few dozen of the inspiring vehicles can be seen below…

This recent photograph taken by one of 2ch’s many resident otaku appears to show K-ON!’s lead vocalist, Yui Hirasawa (or perhaps her equally adorable body double-cum-sister, Ui) helping to promote Hiroshima’s baseball team, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, a team as useless as it is badly named.

A ¥29,400 (approx. $320 USD) Strike Witches branded “Ground Crew Jacket” emblazoned with the 501st’s delightfully moesome Yoshika Miyafuji‘s name recently sold out in about 15 minutes after coming on sale, a sure sign of the emotions welling up during the long wait for the show’s upcoming second season.
