Global hip-hop sensation Travis Scott is recognized in most parts of the world, but Japan isn’t one of them, as the rapper found himself shocked when he stood in the middle of a busy Tokyo crossing where not a single passerby recognized him.
Travis Scott posed in the middle of a pedestrian crossing, wearing an oversized hoodie with a colorful print. Despite his flashy appearance and entourage, the passerby all walked around the multi-platinum rapper.
Travis Scott stood there for a while, hoping to get some attention, but most of the people went about their daily lives, as he quickly walked away with a smile after realizing that no one recognized him.
On the other hand, whenever fellow multi-platinum artist Nicki Minaj visits Japan, she’s practically recognized by droves of fans anywhere she goes, with many waiting to get her autograph.
Japanese comments on the matter:
“I’d have to know who he is before even recognizing him.”
“I doubt anyone would recognize him unless he were as big as Michael Jackson.”
“I only know that he collaborated with Nike. So he’s a musician?”
“Isn’t he only popular in America? He’s probably minor on a global scale.”
“Don’t mind! Be like Keanu and go quietly enjoy some ramen.”
“Foreigners aren’t noticed unless they have more of an aura and stature. I love Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, but I doubt they’d be recognized with their short stature and if they wore something like Uniqlo clothing.”
“Who are these people?”
“Who?”
“Black people’s faces don’t look different, so I don’t recognize any.”
“I don’t know any rappers lol.”
“For the Japanese, black people are just black people.”
“All blacks have the same faces. I’m sure we all look the same to them.”
“I wouldn’t recognize any other than Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington.”
“He’s that Fortnite guy, right?”
“Is he famous in Africa?”
“I feel like I should be embarrassed not knowing him.”
“I only know that this guy’s Nike shoes get flipped for ridiculous prices.”
I have no idea who this is.
That’s a good thing. No one with an IQ of over 80 listens to that garbage he tries to pass off as music.
TBH, if I’d see him on the street, I also wouldn’t know who he was and probably keep my distance. Seriously, it would be easy to mistake him for a coked up homeless person.
Honestly, westerns have already done enough harm in japan, no need to bring their pets in too.
Same, even if I had seen his face before I’d have a hard time telling he’s not a coked up homeless person that happens to look like this guy.
Imagine having all that money and looking like this.
I don’t know who either of them are.
“Is he famous in Africa?”
Lol
This just shows how big of an ego these muricans have. It’s the same of asking a random murican if he knows a popular japanese singer. He’s big in America and nowhere else, these people take the word “world famous” seriously.
I mean, I’m not american and I have no idea who the f♥♥k he is.
I only know him as having some fast food meal with his name attached to it and that he had several people die at one of his concerts, that’s it.
Pretty sad legacy honestly.
Who…..?
After searching for his songs… I still have no clue who he is.
