Fire Force Inspires Fan to Act During Real Fire

Sakuraga Kawazu, an 18-year-old fan of Fire Force (Enen no Shouboutai), witnessed a fire beginning to burn a two-story wooden house in the Kamimoto neighborhood of Kamimoto Ward in Kagoshima City and acted immediately to save the people inside, inspired to act by the anime series.

As reported by Yahoo News, Kawazu was walking to a grocery store and noticed a fire:

“The fire broke out around 11:50 p.m. on August 15 in a two-story wooden house in the Kamimoto neighborhood. Mr. Kawazu, a resident of the area, was on his way to a grocery store. He noticed the flames inside the front door and called 119. He rang the bell and knocked on the door to inform a woman in her 70s who lived alone. The woman, who was about to lie down, put out the fire herself.”

For his actions, the Chief of the Central Fire Station, Kanji Yoshihara, presented an award to Kawazu, saying “Thanks to your accurate reporting and calm and collected actions, the fire was quickly blown out. I would like to express my gratitude for the series of actions taken”.

Sakuraga Kawazu was humble in his acceptance as he noted “I had been watching an animation program about firefighters, so I was able to handle the situation calmly”.
