Western Live Action Made in Abyss Film Coming

Traumatic child torture series Made in Abyss is going to be subjected to further torment as a Western live action film adaptation is in the works, the movie bound to stray from the source material and earn the ire of fans as most Western adaptations (and live action creations in general) tend to do.

The 2017 anime’s live action film is being handled by Kevin McMullin of Columbia Pictures, and Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment is producing alongside Masi Oka (an actor in Bullet Train and Heroes).

The anime follows the orphaned Riko as she goes on a journey to find her mother, a seasoned explorer of the Abyss, who is thought to be dead, she ventures deep into the endless Abyss alongside her robot companion Reg.

Vertigo Entertainment and Oka’s Mobius Productions worked together for such creations as Death Note 1, Death Note 2, and Promised Neverland, perhaps suggesting the type of quality fans can expect of the film.

Fans who have actually read the manga or watched the anime (unlike seemingly most of those responsible for producing live action adaptations) are curious how exactly the movie will get away with all the horrible atrocities present in the story, much less forcing possible child actors into it as well.
