A dedicated group of fan modders have released an ambitious mod for Final Fantasy IX called “The Moguri Mod”, which remasters most audio-visual aspects of the classic Square RPG.
Some features of the mod include backgrounds, animation frames, and light layers upscaled and reworked through the use of an AI with more than 11,000 layers redrawn manually, 14 music track reorchestrations, area text recreations, video cutscenes running in 30 frames per second, an HD world map, HD battle maps, HD textures, and many other major and minor visual fixes.
The mod will likely be seen as a form of salvation in comparison to Square’s work on the title.

The Moguri Mod is currently only compatible with the Steam version of Final Fantasy IX.
Judging by how japanese company react everytime someone make their game “even better than the original”, i hope people who made this mod didn’t get sued, instead they should be hired to remaster other Square Enix games.
It’s a mod that requires the original game and not a free standalone remake so I don’t think they will try to take it down.
I sense a permanent Steam account ban for everyone included in this project and eough lawsuits to ruin a small country. You shouldn’t do nice things.
Gabe-lovers say hello
square should send a little love their way for the effort, at least.
And not a cease-and-desist letter.
ok thanks
