Chile Deems Dead Coronavirus Victims as “Recovered”

In a baffling statement made during a news conference, Chile’s Health Minister Jaime Manalich has revealed that some of the sad souls that died as a result of the Chinese Coronavirus have been deemed as “recovered” by the country.

Chile’s Health Minister asserted the people could count as having “recovered” from the disease as they are no longer contagious after death:

“We have 898 patients who are no longer contagious, who are not a source of contagion for others and we count them as recovered. These people have completed 14 days since their diagnosis or unfortunately died,” Health Minister Jaime Manalich said at a news conference.

Manalich then went on to claim that this bizarre method of counting was recommended by “international experts”.

To date, Chile has reported 8,273 cases of Coronavirus infections, with only 94 deaths and 2,937 victims who have recovered. With the latest revelation from Manalich, it has become difficult to estimate which cases have actually survived the virus and which have succumbed to it as “recovered”.

Recently, the Coronavirus pandemic has grown to over 2 million infection cases worldwide.
