The April Fools joke that tried to convince Made in Abyss fans that the upcoming Made in Abyss: Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei film will instead be replaced by a slice-of-life film revolving around trap Maruruk has somewhat become reality, as animated shorts revolving around Maruruk will be played before the film in theaters.
Titled Maruruk-chan no Nichijou, the animated shorts will focus on appealing trap Maruruk and four total episodes are planned, with a new episode being scheduled every week, starting with January 17th (a clever way to try and get fans to come watch the movie again every week).
The animated short will play in theaters before the actual Made in Abyss film – a soundtrack is also coming January 17th:
