Long-suffering fans of visual novel Tsukihime may be pleased to hear that Type-Moon is still working on the remake project that was announced over ten years ago.
According to Type-Moon’s head Kinoko Nasu, the game is currently in its testing phase:
Interviewer: Speaking of your main job, I’m looking forward to the Tsukihime remake.
Nasu: We’re currently doing a bit of test playing on it, but I believe it’ll be more fun the older you are.
Tsukihime was Type-Moon and Nasu’s first visual novel, having been released in 2000. A fan disk was later released, followed by a sequel named “Kagetsu Tohya”. The game also spawned fighting game franchise Melty Blood. There are rumors that Tsukihime was adapted into an anime, although many fans will fervently deny its existence.
A remake was promised in 2008, but Tsukihime’s fame had been eclipsed by the eminently more marketable Fate franchise.
Well now, a remake that people have been clamoring for, for years. Of all the things I hope for from this remake is an actually good ending for Akiha, and to give Satsuki her much deserved route. Maybe if they get finished with the remake for Tsukihime, they do a remake for the original Fate/Stay Night. God knows Illya deserves her own route in that one too. Though, tbf, at the rate they’re going with the tsukihime remake, I can expect a FSN remake in like 2035 when I’m in my 40s.
It was previously announced that a Satsuki route is planned for the remake.
I also want a Taiga route.
NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!
Yeah you tell them chendog
lol “chendog” lol but a Taiga route is never going to happen at all in any typemoon iteration.
Don’t go and crush my dreams. There’s basically no fan porn of Taiga, either.
And i will be in my 50s.
I hope this remake of the VN will mean there will be an anime adaptation!
yes… an anime adaptation, about time this series gets one…
It already got one in 2003.
“It doesn’t exist”
That’s odd, I distinctly recall there being an anime adapta- *BAM!*
(gets taken out by a sniper)
Still waiting for the Tsukihime anime.
